(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Han Xiurong was tried on June 9, 2014, by the Fengrun District Court and illegally sentenced to six years in prison. She appealed her sentence in September 2014, and her case is now being handled by the Second Criminal Court of the Tangshan City Intermediate Court. Ms. Han is being held at the Tangshan No. 1 Detention Center.
Ms. Han was arrested at home around 8:00 a.m. on December 18, 2013, by chief Lin Wenjun, deputy chief Zeng Xianghai, and officer Yang An of the Domestic Security Division of Fengrun District Police Department; officer Zhou Lishuang from the Duanming Road Police Station; and security personnel Jiao Xijun from the Beiguang Neighborhood Committee. Her home was ransacked, and her computer, printer, and cash of over 88,000 yuan ($14,336 USD) were confiscated.
Ms. Han was transferred to the Tangshan No. 1 Detention Center on the afternoon of December 31, 2013. Her family members were not allowed to visit. Her lawyer was able to visit her on the morning of January 17, 2014.
When the police presented their evidence in court, the cash they stole from her home was not included.
Forgiving Her Abuser
Ms. Han, 56, is a resident of Beiguan Village in Tangshan City. Before she practiced Falun Gong, she was full of anger for her ex-husband, and she suffered from various ailments that included bronchitis, which made it difficult for her to breathe.
When Ms. Han was married, her husband physically and verbally abused her. The abuse became more frequent after her husband had an extramarital affair. Ms. Han was forced to divorce him in 1994.
After the divorce, Ms. Han lived with her son and didn't keep in contact with her ex-husband or his family.
She began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. Soon after, all of her illnesses disappeared, and she was happy again. She found the true meaning of life and followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in her daily life. She was able to let go of her resentment and anger for her ex-husband and started to talk to her former parents-in-law again.
Her ex-husband's parents eventually went to live with her, and she helped take care of them. When her father-in-law passed away last year, she continued to take care of her mother-in-law, who was almost 80 years old.
