(Minghui.org) Baiyin City police arrested 13 Falun Gong practitioners on September 19, 2014. Four of them were released later that day, one after 10 days of detention, and four others were released 15 days later. Four practitioners--Liao Anan, Chen Zhongxuan, Zhang Wenxiu (female), and Li Qiaolian (female)--are still being held.

The Gansu provincial 610 Office directed police officers from Baiyin City Domestic Security Unit, different police stations, and officers from local neighborhood community offices to break into practitioners' homes. They searched the homes and took practitioners into custody.

Plainclothes officers broke into the home of Ms. Li Yu (李玉) and waited for her. Ms. Li returned home after 3 p.m. to a room full of people. The police searched her place for over an hour but did not find anything incriminating. They took her to Gongyuanlu Police Station, interrogated her until 11 p.m., then released her.

Another practitioner, Ms. Li Ya (李亚, no relation to Li Yu) had only arrived in Baiyin City from Pingliang two days prior to the arrests.

Fan Hongtao, the captain of Domestic Security Unit, and other police officers broke into Ms. Li Ya's rented apartment. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and other personal items. While they were searching her apartment, three police vehicles parked nearby and plainclothes officers were waiting to arrest any practitioners that passed by.

Ms. Li Ya was taken to police station and tied to a tiger bench to be interrogated. The police showed her a picture of a man and asked her if she knew him, which she didn't. They also repeatedly asked her if she knew anyone in Baiyin that practiced Falun Gong.

Three police officers from Pingliang were called in to assist in the interrogation. They finally police took Ms. Li Ya to a detention center around 11 that night. They told her, “You are not allowed to stay in Baiyin--go somewhere else.” Ms. Li Ya was released after 15 days of illegal detention.
