(Minghui.org) A woman from Daqing, Heilongjiang Province was pressured to give up her practice of Falun Gong shortly after the Chinese Communist Party launched its nationwide campaign against the peaceful self-cultivation system in 1999.
Ms. Wang Wenying (王文英), 49, soon developed some neurological disorders which eventually cost her job at Daqing Oilfield, as she had trouble concentrating on her work. Her doctors were unable to pinpoint the cause of her symptoms, and no medical treatments seemed to help. She suffered from insomnia and migraines. She also became so irritable that she picked fights seemingly randomly.
For a period of time, she contemplated suicide almost every night. Her fate changed when she met a person at a psychiatric hospital who reminded her to try Falun Gong instead of taking pills. A light bulb went off in her head, and she suddenly recalled the benefits that she had experienced before the persecution began.
Not long after she resumed her practice of Falun Gong, her symptoms disappeared, and she was once again a calm, loving and considerate wife, mother and daughter-in-law.
Having gone through a transformation in her life, Ms. Wang was all about sharing her Falun Gong experiences with as many people as possible. She carried materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong wherever she went.
This simple habit landed her in police custody on October 30, 2014. She was looking for a friend's apartment that day when a plainclothes policeman spotted her near a fire escape. When questioned why she was there, she replied she couldn't remember her friend's apartment number.
Without any warning, the man suddenly dragged her into an apartment, where 7-8 plainclothes officers were conducting a search of that home.
The police body-searched Ms. Wang and confiscated her Falun Gong related materials. She was arrested along with six other Falun Gong practitioners living in that apartment building.
The seven practitioners were taken to the Longgang Police Department, where an elderly practitioner soon had a severe seizure. The police had to release her after realizing she needed emergency treatment. A second elderly woman was taken home by her daughter later that day.
The remaining five practitioners, including Ms. Wang, remain incarcerated at Daqing First Detention Center.
Ms. Wang's 79-year-old mother cries all the time after her arrest. Her husband and daughter are very worried about her current situation because the police have not allowed family visits after she was arrested.
