(Minghui.org) The Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda has led a large number of mainland Chinese to develop negative notions of Falun Gong and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
The prejudice has placed their future at risk and we practitioners have the responsibility to clarify the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution, so that they will not share the same fate as the Party.
I would like to share my experience of calling Chinese people about Falun Gong and rescuing detained practitioners. Overcoming attachments to comfort took some time, and so did learning effective ways to talk to mainland Chinese. I've been able to make some progress through constantly upgrading my xinxing.
I had hoped the person I spoke with could stay on the phone long enough to hear everything I wanted to say. But it didn't happen without challenges. Filled with feelings of anxiety and combativeness, I felt ill at ease. The other person even cursed at me. The challenges became more intense when my Fa-study and righteous thoughts were lacking.
“Actually, as for some qigong masters, they do not even know, and neither are they clear about what supernormal abilities they possess. They only know that they can do whatever they want, as long as they think about it. In reality, it is their mind-intent at work: Supernormal abilities are directed by the brain’s mind-intent, and they carry out specific tasks under the command of mind-intent. Yet mind-intent cannot do anything itself.” (Zhuan Falun)
These words reminded me that we were actually eradicating evil elements in other dimensions during truth-clarification. Were we relying too much on our abilities at the human level? If that were the case, how could we eliminate the evil elements in other dimensions?
My understanding is that we should use our righteous thoughts to direct our supernormal abilities, so that people will stay on the phone longer and finish listening to the truth. Feelings of fear, anxiety, or zealotry can interfere with our efforts.
Letting go of these attachments through good Fa-study and sending forth righteous thoughts are prerequisites for a good conversation. The reason I did poorly in the first two months was that I focused so much on the “how to”, but I didn't put my heart into it.
Another thing I learned was that, “One’s gong level is as high as one’s xinxing level, and this is an absolute truth.” (Zhuan Falun) I understand that gong comes from upgrading our xinxing, not by doing the exercises. By letting go of human notions and keeping a pure mind, we would become more effective in eliminating the evil in other dimensions, helping people accept the facts, and saving them. Results of phone calls are usually poor if we do it with a show-off mentality or zealotry.
Our pure heart empowers strong supernormal abilities. For example, let's not overly praise fellow practitioners when we see them doing well; instead, we can quietly look within and think about how we could do better.
Calling China to rescue detained practitioners is different from normal conversations. Evil factors in other dimensions can easily take advantage of our loopholes when we are not righteous.
A person stopped me once and asked where I was calling from. I didn't give a direct answer. Although I had been on the phone with the person for half an hour, the other person noticed my evasiveness right away and the conversation went downhill from there.
A fellow practitioner and I had a serious discussion about this afterwards. I learned that to save sentient beings, we first need to have a sincere, pure heart—only then can we walk our path well.
From Master's article “Be More Diligent,” I learned we should not only do well ourselves, but also cooperate with other practitioners as one body. The phone rescue project is a big effort, and it requires that we practitioners—each with our own unique skills—complement and support each other.
One day there were seven urgent rescue cases, but only three practitioners were available. I started by contacting the workplace of a persecuted practitioner. A security officer there agreed to help me and obtained the release date from local police. This kind of thing rarely happens, because security officers usually persecuted practitioners.
After finishing the first two cases, we found out where two other practitioners had been detained and what their release dates were. Four cases were dealt with in no time, and we could focus on the remaining three.
One of the practitioners I worked with called a prison officer responsible for “transforming” practitioners. After talking with the officer for a few minutes, the officer asked a provocative question, “You said your parents were once ill. Did you come back to China and take good care of them?” Before the practitioner could reply, the officer shouted at him, “I don't want to speak with irresponsible children like you!” and hung up.
We knew these kinds of police officers received special training to attack practitioners outside of China, who are unable to return because of the persecution.
I called him back and said, “Thank you for bringing up this topic. I know many Falun Gong practitioners, and to me they are the most responsible children. These practitioners follow a righteous path and try to improve their xinxing. Such a noble action will make their whole family proud. With a healthy mind and body from practicing cultivation, their parents no longer need to worry about them.
“Now let's look at what you have done. You know these practitioners are good people and they are trying to return to their original, true selves. But you not only put these innocent people in prison and torture them, but also mentally abuse them and try to destroy their conscience.
“Is this something your parents would be proud of? Please, rethink what you have been doing. I believe your parents want you to be a good person. If your parents ask you about this, how would you explain it to them?”
The police officer fell silent after hearing my words. I know that he was giving the matter serious thought because the joint efforts of practitioners had touched him.
From Master's article “The Red Demon is Incinerated While Adamantine Ones are Tempered,” I learned that the projects we are doing provide us with an opportunity to constantly purify ourselves, temper our xinxing, and make steady progress.
