(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gao Chunmin (高春敏) has been detained for nearly six months. When her husband tried to find out about her case and bail her out on medical parole, the {{Procuratorate} and police made things difficult for him.
Ms. Gao and three other practitioners were arrested in Beijing on June 9, 2014, when they were on their way to visit a cancer patient.
The police attempted to fabricate evidence to charge them with “organized crime.” Ms. Gao's husband mailed a letter of complaint to the Beijing Procuratorate No. 1 Branch. He went to the Appeals Office of the No. 1 Branch on September 1 to urge them to investigate but has never heard back from them.
The Haidian District Procuratorate did return the case to the police for a “supplementary investigation” on October 31.
In August, Ms. Gao called her husband and told him that there was something wrong with her. Ms. Gao's husband hired an attorney, who found out that she had an inflamed gall bladder and filed to get her out on bail, but it was not approved.
After being told that her case would be turned over to the Haidian District Procuratorate in Beijing, Ms. Gao's husband went to the procuratorate several times in September to check. But each time the staff there refused to check for him, claiming that they could not find it.
Ms. Gao's husband went to the Haidian Procuratorate on September 29 again, asking about bail for his wife and also letting it be known that he would be her acting defender. Procuratorate staff said he needed her consent to act as her defender. He called their attorney, who said that, as her husband, he didn't need her consent to defend her.
He then asked to see her case documents. The staff told him that they had received the case, but the Beijing Procuratorate had not done an official transfer, so they couldn't assign the case to the prosecutor, which meant that the case documents were not available. He checked with the No. 1 Branch in the afternoon and was told that the documents had been transferred to the Haidian Procuratorate on September 17.
He called Haidian Detention Center to ask about her health on November 12. He was told that Ms. Gao had been allowed to write to him about her condidtion, but he hadn't received any letter yet. He was also told that the detention center would take her to a hospital.
Several days later, the detention center called him and told him that Ms. Gao had a 10-millimeter stone in her gallbladder, that she had a cyst on her gallbladder, and that she had lumbar disc prolapse. But none of these ailments met the condition for medical parole, so they wouldn't let her go.
Worried about his wife, he went to the procuratorate to request bail. Prosecutor Wu Yude told him that her case was still in the hands of the police department. When he went to the police department, he was told that the procuratorate was in charge.
