(Minghui.org) A classroom door has been closed for two years, and it will remain so for at least two more. Behind that door was a teacher who gave interesting lectures, and encouraged students to realize their dreams.
Her door had always been open to any child who wanted to expand his or her horizons, but everything changed on July 6, 2012, when the teacher, Ms. Hao Yueshan, was arrested.
To her students, she was their best friend and teacher. But she was sentenced to four years in prison for being involved in installing satellite dishes.
She was arrested on July 6, 2012, by officers from the Harbin Road Police Station in Jinzhou New District. Her home was ransacked and her belongings seized.
Her 80-year-old mother, Ms. Guo Yuying, also a practitioner, was put under surveillance by the police.
Ms. Hao hired a lawyer, who was moved by her sincerity and kindness, and agreed to defend her. They found legal grounds to support her innocence, which gave Ms. Guo great hope that she would be exonerated. But in China, the law is not used to protect people—it is used by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to control and suppress its own citizens.
The Developmental District Court in Dalian City tried Ms. Hao on January 22, 2014. Despite the lawyer's powerful arguments and the not-guilty plea by Ms. Hao, she was sentenced to four years in prison.
Ms. Guo, her mother, who never saw her daughter again after her arrest, became ill and passed away on May 12, 2014.
About Ms. Hao
Ms. Hao, a physics teacher, was well-liked by students and parents in the Dalian Developmental District. Her class was popular, and many students from different areas attended her classes.
Her students did well academically, with some winning the first prize in national competitions. In addition to academic knowledge, she taught her students moral principles. They saw her as a mentor and discussed their problems with her.
One example was twin sisters, who competed and often fought with each other. She told them that they were blessed to be twins, and were together because of a predestined relationship, so they should cherish it and help each other. They took her advice to heart.
CCP Afraid of People Learning the Truth
Watching South Korean soap operas in North Korea is reportedly against the law, and anyone caught will face a prison term. The CCP sentencing Ms. Hao to prison is no different. The CCP is afraid that if the Chinese people see foreign programming, especially that of NTD television, they will learn the truth, and the Party will lose control.
NTD is headquartered in the United States and operates as a Chinese language satellite television station. According to NTD it, “provide(s) insightful coverage of China with the highest ethical standards of Western journalism … truthful, uncensored Chinese-language alternative to China's state-run media.”
