(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Guifen was tried in Maoming Court in Guangdong Province on December 23, 2013. During the trial, Ms. Liang, her family, and fellow practitioners pointed out that the prosecutor used forged testimonies. The court refused to hear the practitioners' testimony.

Attorney Mai Haolan, who was hired by Ms. Liang's family, refused to plead not guilty on behalf of Ms. Liang, as agreed during pre-trial discussions. When questioned by the family after the trial, he claimed that he was afraid of being killed by the authorities.

Ms. Liang was put on trial again on December 27 and was sentenced to three and half years in prison.

Ms. Liang Guifen is 57 years old. She lives in Poxin Town in the Maogang District of Maoming City, Guangdong Province. She was arrested on November 2, 2013, when she was reading Falun Gong books at home with 13 other practitioners. She is detained in the First Detention Center in Maoming City.

Maogang District Court Used Forged Testimonies

A police car took Ms. Liang from the detention center to the courthouse at around 10:15 a.m. on December 23. The prosecutor was Huang Haibin, in her 40s, from the Maogang District Procuratorate. The presiding judge was court president Liang Youbin.

During the trial, Huang Haibin accused Ms. Liang of having Falun Gong literature and promoting the the practice in her home. Huang read forged testimonies.

Ms. Liang said that the testimonies were forged, but was not allowed to testify on her behalf and thus the court did no hear that the prosecutor had provided forged testimony. The court security prevented Liang Qiuyuan from speaking and threatened to remove her from the court.

All 13 practitioners on trial submitted written testimony on December 24, 2013, stating that they were forced to sign forged testimonies during the interrogation. They also submitted a written testimony as to what had happened, asking that the court follow existing law and unconditionally release Ms. Liang.

Court Refused to Accept Practitioners' Written Testimony

Ms. Liang's family submitted to the court written testimony at around 10 a.m. on December 25, 2013 and asked to see the court president Liang Youbin. The guard at the gate and the court security guard prevented the family from entering the court.

When a car drove into the courtyard, the family followed it through the gate, but two more security guards kept the family from entering the courthouse.

The family asked for the court clerk with the surname of Huang to accept the written testimony. Huang didn't show up and the police kept urging the family to leave. The family was persistent and finally the security guards accepted the written testimony.

After they left the court, the family went to see the Maogang District 610 Office. A person with the surname of Zheng met with them.

The family spoke to him about Falun Gong, asking him to unconditionally release Ms. Liang. Zheng kept smiling and claimed that he was not good at arguing with the family. They told him that they would return daily, as long as Ms. Liang is not released.

On the morning of December 26, the family received a phone call from the court that Ms. Liang would be tried again the next day. On December 27, the court sentenced her to three and a half years in prison.
