“At present Dafa disciples are to go save people, and thus I have been watching how each area is doing in truth-clarification. Some truth-clarification sites have really done an excellent job. There is an increasing number of tourist groups from mainland China nowadays. This is an arrangement for people to hear the truth in a different setting. Our truth-clarification sites are, in fact, the front line—the front line for clarifying the truth.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2013 Western U.S. Fa Conference”)
Los Angeles practitioners increased the number of places where we clarify the truth at tourist spots after the 2013 Western U.S. Fa Conference. After careful inspection, we decided to have a site at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We are very grateful for Master's great compassion for providing this location to save sentient beings.
Hollywood is a world famous tourist spot because of the movie and television industry. Every day there are three to 20 tourist groups that can bring in hundreds of tourists from China.
Master said:
“When someone heads abroad [from China], well, since he isn’t able to hear the truth while in China, isn’t he being directed to go overseas so that he can learn the truth?” (“Fa Teaching at the 2013 Western U.S. Fa Conference”)
Even in the off season there are still a lot of tourists. Hollywood creates a kind of illusion. It is a place where people yearn to fulfill their dreams, but it is a deviant culture. The streets and stores are packed with all kinds of objects and ornaments for sale, including things used in witchcraft and other practices with negative elements. There are many vagrants and destitute people with mental disorders who wander about. The atmosphere is dark, gloomy, and disorderly. It has even been called a “ghost" town.
1. Breaking Through Notions
We discovered we had all kinds of attachments when it was mentioned that we would open a truth-clarification site at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We doubted whether such a degenerate place was appropriate or worthwhile. We thought about our personal losses and gains: “Is it really worthwhile to drive that far if there aren't that many Chinese tourists? Everyone is so busy, and it will take a lot of time and gas.” We didn't feel that it was worth the effort.
We usually spoke to people about Falun Gong at the Chinese communities near us. We weren't restricted by time and we could do it at our convenience. So we thought, “Isn't it the same no matter where you clarify the truth to Chinese people?” We used this argument to cover up our attachments of fear that it was too far away, that we were too busy, that it was too much work, and that that it would interfere with our doing the exercises and studying the Fa. In addition to pursuing comfort and selfishness, we were afraid of that messy and chaotic environment.
We had helped people understand the truth about Falun Gong and collected signatures there previously. There was a lot of interference from other dimensions and we didn't do well. Knowing this, the idea of going back there again was not appealing and we didn't want to go.
We were not taking saving sentient beings as our highest priority--we were mired in our own selfishness. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is the prime tourist destination for Chinese people in the Los Angeles area. We thought, “We can't abandon this spot.” We were forced to look at our notions and get rid of them.
Master said:
“But, what I’m thinking is, you are all here to 'help Master rectify the Fa'—to use your own words for it—so I would ask, do you really want to help Master rectify the Fa? You say, 'Whatever Master says, that’s what we’ll do,” and, “Whatever Master wants, that’s what we’ll do.' Then I will tell you: this is what I want! ”(“Be More Diligent”)
The facts presented themselves to us. We should let go of selfishness, have a heart of compassion, and do what Master wants without hesitation.
2. Cooperating As One Body
We printed many banners to make the Hollywood Walk of Fame an effective truth-clarification site to save people. Some of the banners read:
“The Tiananmen Self-immolation Was a Fabrication,” “The Chinese Communist Party Has Killed 80 Million Chinese People in 64 Years,” “Our Whole Family Has Withdrawn from the CCP and Its Affiliated Organizations” and “The Chinese Communist Party Is Harvesting Organs from Living People.”
Two or three practitioners held the banners. They sent forth righteous thoughts to clear out negative factors causing interference, talked to people about Falun Gong, and helped them withdraw from the Party. Some of the banners were 25 feet long and had a magnificent effect. We felt that our energy doubled after displaying them and that they created a beautiful display of Dafa
Some of our practitioners specialize in broadcasting the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution on loudspeakers. A few specialize in finding Chinese people to help them withdraw from the CCP. They move about and talk to people for long periods of time They bring tourists over to the location of the banners if they have the opportunity, so that they can speak with them further about Falun Gong and the persecution. We are cooperating better together and are able to save more people.
Tourists avoided looking at our banners at first. You could sense that some wanted to, yet didn't dare to, and not that many people were willing to withdraw from the CCP. We continued to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate any interference. The negative factors controlling people have become much less.
Chinese people and other foreigners alike are more willing to read our banners now. Some people stealthily read them from afar, and those who don't have enough time to read them will take photographs so they can read them later. Chinese people who have read the banners and understand the truth about Falun Gong are more willing to withdraw from the CCP. Some who haven't withdrawn will come back again to read the banners and learn more, and then they are more willing to withdraw.
Practitioners have improved in their individual cultivation because we have cooperated better as one body, and the number of people who have withdrawn from the CCP and have been saved has also increased. We started the first part of November 2013, and only 44 people withdrew from the CCP the first week. The second week, 52 people withdrew. The total for the first month was 215. Typically we now help over 100 people withdraw each day, and we now save more people in one day than we previously did in one week. About 6 or 7 practitioners are there every day. On holidays, over a dozen practitioners come to the Hollywood Walk of Fame to clarify the truth.
3. Eliminating Evil
We felt the pressure from evil factors and all kinds of interference at the site. We encountered traffic jams on our way there that didn't let up. It felt like a battlefield between good and evil when we arrived. We had only touched the surface when we clarified the truth there before. This time we felt we had to persist and battle it out.
There was an endless stream of strangely dressed people. There were eerie sounds, and a chilly wind seemed to come from all directions. It felt as if the temperature there was different from nearby locations. The sights and sounds were difficult to bear, and the pressure was stifling. We felt very uncomfortable.
The tourists from China were busy taking photographs. They didn't listen to or believe us, didn't look at our banners or accept our newspapers, and they didn't quit the CCP. They shook their heads and waved their hands saying no. They were being controlled by evil in other dimensions and the pressure just increased when we tried to save them. Our unintentional reflex reaction was a feeling of hopelessness--that we couldn't save them. I heard sounds like moans and groans when I got into my car for a few days in a row. You can well imagine the pressure that we were under.
We didn't know what to do when faced with so much interference. Some practitioners said, “Can we go to the airport to clarify the truth more frequently? Do we need to come here every day?” Other practitioners said, “It is ten times harder to get a person to withdraw from the CCP in Hollywood than any other place! The old forces are scheming to find ways to interfere with us and dampen our determination. They don't want us here and are trying to prevent Chinese people from being saved.”
Our energy didn't reach the desired level after many days. It influenced our ability to save sentient beings. Some of us felt unwell and others were coughing for many days with so much evil interference from other dimensions. Some practitioners were in such pain that they didn't want to return the next day. Most of us didn't have that good feeling that usually comes when helping people withdraw from the CCP. Some lost heart. We knew that we needed to do well at the Hollywood truth-clarification site. We needed to eliminate the evil that was interfering with us and preventing people from being saved.
4. Elevating As One Body
Everyone looked inside and studied the Fa well. We increased the frequency and strength of sending forth righteous thoughts and asked for Master's support. We sent righteous thoughts on our way to and from Hollywood. We divided up the work when we arrived at the site and cooperated well.
The practitioners that held up the banners organized sending forth righteous thoughts together. We cleaned out the evil beings and factors in other dimensions that prevented people from being saved. On the way home, we did a brief summary of the day, shared our experiences, enlightened to where we fell short, and encouraged each other.
We needed to be brief, calm, and fast when clarifying the truth and encouraging people to withdraw from the CCP at the site. The requirements were high, so we shared what had been effective in saving people with others on the way home. I've included some of the phrases that we used below.
“Beautiful scenery won't protect your life. Withdrawing from the CCP will guarantee your safety.” “You will have a good life. Heaven wants us to save you.” “The sooner you withdraw from the CCP, the sooner you will be safe and sound. Withdrawing from the CCP will make you safer.” “The Tiananmen self-immolation was fabricated. Don't believe the lies spread by the CCP.” “Heaven will soon destroy the CCP. There will soon be a big calamity.” “China is lost because of the tyranny of the CCP's rule. Withdraw from the CCP and guarantee your safety.”
When it was really difficult, we asked for Master's help. Master helped us to get rid of our distracting thoughts and to concentrate on just saving sentient beings. It was really important that every practitioner be in a good cultivation state. Every practitioner's xinxing and wisdom elevated and was tempered in the process.
Many practitioners reported reaching a state where they experienced no self, nothingness, emptiness, and their brains were empty. They only had one thought: to save sentient beings. Our righteous thoughts became stronger as we returned to our true selves. The field gradually opened up, the evil elements became less, and we were able to save more sentient beings.
The whole body improved as individual practitioners' xinxing improved. We fought a battle between good and evil and rectified the negative elements. We ran up against all kinds of attachments in the process of our work there.
One day a tourist guide yelled at us in a rage, “I want to kill all of you.” Some people wanted to beat us. We were cursed at and verbally abused as we tried to save these types of people, and it happened on a daily basis. Some practitioners carried truth-clarification albums with them every day. They accepted every hardship and followed group after group of tourists. They were ridiculed on a routine basis by people who didn't understand the truth about Falun Gong. We knew how difficult it was to save sentient beings when dealing with these pitiful Chinese people, who themselves are innocent victims.
It is our responsibility and historic mission to save Chinese people. It is also our prehistoric vow. I've seen several veteran practitioners try so hard to save one person that they were covered in perspiration, but when that person was saved, their smiling faces were a magnificent sight. Everyone remained calm when others praised them for the work that we are engaged in.
Two months have now passed. Practitioners have worked hard together with righteous thoughts and actions. Nothing is able to disturb us, neither interference from the police nor other people nor evil spirits. We don't waste time and know that every second counts when dealing with the old forces that are interfering.
Things have changed on the surface, and the obstacles to save Chinese people have lessened. The environment for saving people has improved, and over half of the tourist guides have withdrawn from the CCP. Many guides silently help us, and some even verbalize their support.
We no longer haggle over individual gains and losses, or sorrow and joys. We just think about how we can save more Chinese people, how to help them cast off the evil that is controlling them, and to understand the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution.
It doesn't matter how many tourist groups or people come, we are always there to clarify the truth and save them. There is nothing to fear, whether only one tourist group from China comes, or even just one Chinese person, it hasn't been in vain. As long as we are standing there, we are disintegrating the evil.
When a lot of Chinese people come, we split up to reach them and have high hopes of saving them. Even if someone hasn't chosen to withdraw from the CCP, perhaps he or she has understood the truth and will withdraw at the next truth-clarification site or perhaps will have the opportunity upon returning home.
In summary, we haven't wasted our time. Actually, whether we have done a little or a lot, it is actually Master who has done everything. Without Master we couldn't do anything. In fact, we have not done enough. When will the time come that bus after bus arrives and we are able to help all of the Chinese people on those buses withdraw from the CCP? When will Chinese people come of their own initiative to withdraw from the CCP, rather than the passive approach that they take now?
We each need to improve in our own cultivation while we are rectifying the Fa. We know that the road ahead won't be smooth, and that there will still be tribulations and interference from negative factors. We need to complete what Master wants and not forget our mission to save more Chinese people.
This has been my experience clarifying the truth at the Hollywood Walk of Fame truth-clarification site. Fellow practitioners, if there is anything inappropriate, please, point it out.
