Israeli Media Report on the Harvesting of Organs from Living Falun Gong Practitioners in China

Feb. 27, 2014 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Israel

(Minghui.org) After the Israeli Parliament (the Knesset) held a hearing on February 17, 2014, condemning the Chinese government for harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, more than ten mainstream media carried reports on the persecution of Falun Gong in China over the next two weeks.

The media included Israel Broadcasting Authority, Israel Military Radio, Radio Lelo Hafsaka 103, Channel 7 Radio, Yedioth HaSharon (a newspaper), i24 (television news), Israeli Parliament website and broadcast, Anochi (a magazine), and several other online news media.

The host of i24news interviewed David Kilgour, former Canadian Member of Parliament, and explained that Falun Dafa is a spiritual practice that values virtue and includes five exercises. The host also explained how the persecution began in 1999 and said that practitioners were subsequently sent to forced labor camps. He described the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance as the “universal moral standard.”

Maraah Magazine compared people’s reaction when they heard about organ harvesting from living Falun Dafa practitioners to their reaction to an incident 70 years ago.

In 1943, when Jan Karski, a Polish eyewitness to the atrocities of the Holocaust, exposed the Nazi genocide of the Jews, the US Supreme Court justice Felix Frankfurter said, “I did not say this young man is lying. I said I am unable to believe him. There is a difference.” (from http://en.minghui.org/html/articles/2012/6/2/133757.html )

Today in Israel another "unbelievable" story was heard. The magazine article said that, perhaps in 1943 Felix Frankfurter truly could not believe the Nazis could have committed such a violent act, but in 2014, we, the offspring of those once persecuted by the Nazis and the Communist Party, have no excuse for ignoring this atrocity.

As part of the series “Israel Identifies with the Victims of Falun Gong,” over the past week, Free China , The Courage to Believe , a documentary film reflecting the human rights situation in China, was screened and seminars on the topic were held in Tel Aviv University, Jerusalem Hebrew Youth Union, Beit Berl College, and Savyon City Public Library.
