(Minghui.org) My husband was illegally arrested on the evening of September 27, 2009. I was at home, and my son and I quickly hid. When the police opened the door with my husband's house key, they didn't see anyone in the house and left.
Focus on Saving People
After a while, my younger sister and her husband took my mother-in-law to the police department to ask for my husband's release. At that time, my family wasn't thinking about validating the Fa or saving people--they only wanted to get my husband out. They were quite emotional, which stirred up the negative elements in the police, who were very rude.
The next day, my mother-in-law went to the police department by herself. When she saw the chief, she said, “My son used to be very ill and no hospital could cure him. He started practicing Falun Dafa and became healthy and virtuous. Once when they were installing a boiler where he worked, there was an explosion and everyone ran out to save themselves. But my son risked his life, rushed into the workshop, and turned off the switch. Because of what he did, a disaster was avoided and all those who couldn't get out were saved. Later, when people asked him what motivated him to do it, he said, 'I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner and our Master told us to be good people.'”
The police chief listened calmly and then told her to go home and wait for news. We all thought my mother-in-law had done a good job and started to feel pleased.
Two days later, my mother-in-law went to the police department again. I told her before she went that she had to make sure they would release her son, and if they refused, she should stay there until they did. With that human attachment, my mother-in-law went to the police department a third time. This time the police chief refused to see her and the officers were very rude.
Clarifying the Truth to the Authorities' Family Members
When my mother-in-law came home, I studied the Fa with her and we looked inward for loopholes. We found our selfishness and realized that we hadn't put saving people as the top priority--we had only focused on getting my husband out.
Through Fa study, we understood that we should take this opportunity to clarify the truth and save sentient beings. We shared with fellow practitioners and we agreed that we should visit the homes of those involved in persecuting my husband and talk to their relatives, and at the same time send righteous thoughts close to the police department.
Master said:
“If you, as Dafa disciples, want to effect change in a person when you clarify the truth and want to save him, you must not arouse the negative elements in that person. You must hold to being shan , and only then can you resolve problems that may arise and save that person.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2009 Washington DC International Fa Conference”)
Master also said:
“All of this in fact holds true for your clarifying the truth as well. If you are able to all keep compassion in your hearts as you interact with the person, regardless of his attitude, then in the depths of his soul, or on the knowing side of his being, he will understand.” (“Fa Teaching Given in Manhattan” in 2006)
My mother-in-law went to the home of the head of the Domestic Security Division and met his mother. My mother-in-law had great compassion for her and explained the reason for her visit. She also clarified the truth to his mom. The woman kept nodding her head and said, “When my son comes home, I'll tell him. I'll also tell my husband (who was a member of the National People's Congress) when he comes home. Don't worry.” My mother-in-law reminded her again as she left that she should tell her son to treat practitioners kindly and they would all benefit if he did.
When she returned home, we studied the Fa and shared our understandings. The next day, my mother-in-law went to visit the police chief's parents. She chatted with them and told them why her son practices Dafa, as well as the good deeds he did at work. The chief police's mom said, “Rest assured, I'll tell him when he comes home.”
The following day, my mother-in-law went to visit the mother-in-law of the chief of the 610 Office. She is 83 years old, and the two ladies got along really well. My mother-in-law explained why she had come to see her and said, “Please tell your son-in-law not to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Gods in heaven are watching. If he treats practitioners kindly, he will be rewarded. You must also remember 'Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.'" The elderly lady nodded and said she would. My mother-in-law also clarified the truth to their housemaid, and she also learned the facts about Falun Gong.
During the next few days, fellow practitioners managed to find as many addresses as possible and my mother-in-law paid visits to all of them to save them.
When she went to the police department again, the police chief took her hand and said, “Your son's case had been submitted to the Procuratorate. Go talk to them.” When he learned that my mother-in-law hadn't eaten, he ordered a police officer to get her a snack.
When my mother-in-law came back, we had a sharing with fellow practitioners and decided that we should clarify the truth to the Procuratorate. My mother-in-law went there while several fellow practitioners sent righteous thoughts nearby to support her. The gate guard took her to see the procurator-general. She started clarifying the truth right away. The procurator-general didn't say much and politely saw her off at the gate after the meeting.
A few days later our relatives heard that the court was about to sentence my husband to five or seven years in prison. They told us to find someone who could help and to pay 20,000 yuan to get him out. My mother-in-law was a new practitioner. She was swayed and asked me if we should pay for my husband's release.
I told her, “We shouldn't give money to the evil Chinese Communist Party or they'll be encouraged to commit more crimes against Dafa disciples. It would be bad for them." I shared a bit more with her on the Fa principles and she gradually calmed down.
That night I saw Master in a dream. Master told me, “Continue to clarify the truth. He will be home in two or three days.” I was so excited when I woke up, because it was the first time I had ever seen Master in a dream.
Two days later, my husband came home.
We learned that, while he was in detention, he always kept righteous thoughts and clarified the truth to many inmates. The head of the detention center had been deceived by the CCP's lies for a long time and he had beaten all the practitioners detained there. After my husband clarified the truth to him, he said, “Don't worry. I won't persecute practitioners anymore.”
Walking Our Paths Righteously
In our local area, some practitioners' family members who are being persecuted keep giving money to the authorities, and some practitioners acknowledge this is one way to get things done, which has led to more practitioners being illegally arrested.
We are Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples, and every step we take should be the most righteous, because what and how we do things will be passed on to later generations. Isn't it tarnishing Dafa if we give money to the perpetrators out of fear of being persecuted?
Dafa disciples' money is Dafa's resource. Aren't we encouraging the perpetrators to commit more crimes by paying them? We should let go of human attachments and let Master arrange everything. Let us repay Master's boundless grace with our righteous thoughts and righteous actions.
Let us remember Master's teaching:
“Everything here in human society was established for Fa-rectification, and all that exists today exists for the sake of my Dafa disciples validating the Fa. Remember: you are the stars of today's world, you are the lives that sentient beings are watching the most intently, and you are beings who are determining the future of every person in the human world! (Applause) So, saving all beings and cultivating yourselves well are of the utmost importance for you, the Dafa disciples. It's not done just for the Consummation of your own being--it is also about fulfilling the hopes that have been placed in you by sentient beings, by more beings!” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2005 Canada Fa Conference”)
