(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Yanxia, who lives in Shaokuo Township, Nongan County, was arrested on June 3, 2013. She was beaten by police officer Tang Ke, and afterwards developed multiple serious symptoms. She is now hospitalized at the Jilin Provincial People's Hospital in a “special" ward. Her family went to see her at the hospital on April 3, but the police refused to allow the visit.
Detained for Ten Months, Ms. Sun’s Life in Danger
Ms. Sun Yanxia and Ms. Fu Guihua were illegally arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division on June 3, 2013. Even though the police officials submitted her case to a court eight times, the court kept rejecting it. Both practitioners have been detained at the No. 3 Detention Center in Changchun for ten months.
Ms. Sun developed chronic cirrhosis hepatitis B and fallopian tube carcinoma as a result of torture she received while detained. Ms. Fu had hypertension, and her systolic blood pressure rose to 190. In fact, both practitioners were not suitable for such detention.
In late 2013, Ms, Sun could feel that her tubal tumor size had enlarged, and that her condition was worsening. However, the 610 Office agents did not allow her to seek medication or other medical care outside of prison, or even have a family visit.
Hospitalized, Denied Family Visitation
Domestic Security Division officer Lu Ming recently revealed that Ms. Sun was being hospitalized at the Provincial People's Hospital. Her family also verified this with the hospital. Ms. Sun was being held in custody at the hospital, in room No. 5 of Building Four.
However, when her family members went to the hospital to see her, the hospital staff refused. They claimed that the family visit had to be accompanied by police officers from the detention center. Furthermore, they claimed that the hospital could only provide information about Ms. Sun's condition to detention officials, but not to her family. They said that the family could only get updates from the police and could only visit her with permission from detention center officials.
Ms. Sun's family members tried to talk to a guard from the detention center at the hospital to get an update, but the guard was hostile towards them.
The guard shouted at Ms. Sun's relatives and pushed them away. After they were forced to leave, her relatives tried to enter from the other side of the building. The guards shouted loudly and ordered them to leave. One family member shouted, "Ms. Sun Yanxia was beaten by your security guards." The police officers appeared to panic and told them to be quiet.
The police told her family not to mention Sun Yanxia's name after it had been repeated several times. They were afraid that other patients might hear.
