(Minghui.org) The three-year sentence of schoolteacher and Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Fan Xiaosheng is likely to be upheld, as the Dandong Intermediate Court claimed in February that the case was not eligible for a trial. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Mr. Fan, 46, who teaches Chinese literature at the Fengcheng First High School, Liaoning Province, was sentenced to three years in prison on November 8, 2013, for downloading the Falun Gong book Zhuan Falun and sharing it via email with three friends. His emails were used as evidence to convict him.
Even though the Fengcheng Procuratorate agreed to release him due to his colleagues and students' petition for his release, the Fengcheng Court sentenced him three years of imprisonment.
Mr. Fan was arrested at his school on October 25, 2012, by the Fengcheng Police Department and was released on bail the same day. He was arrested again on May 13, 2013, by the Fengcheng Court and detained in the Fengcheng Detention Center prior to the November sentence.
The Fengcheng First Middle School is a provincial level key high school. Teachers there are known for being open-minded and highly skilled. Mr. Fan is one of them. Many of his students manage to gain admission from China's top universities.
