(Minghui.org) After many years, I've come to realize that clarifying the truth requires a lot of wisdom coupled with treating this task seriously so that people can learn the facts about Falun Gong. I would like to share my experience on how to save people more effectively.
When I clarified the truth on the phone to a person from the police department one day, he listened carefully. We chatted for a long time and he also accepted what I said.
Towards the end of the call, he told me that he had previously received similar calls, but the callers usually did not give him a chance to speak. Instead, they insisted that he had been participating in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. This caused him to feel helpless, wronged and even angry. He said while speaking with me, he truly felt my kindness and he also understood the truth. He thanked me and we ended our conversation cordially.
I thought a lot after I hung up the phone. Fa-rectification Dafa disciples are trying their best to save sentient beings, but are we able to calm down and think about the effect we are having?
Learning to Listen to Others
I've been speaking to people about Falun Gong for many years. I've found that it requires tremendous wisdom and one must treat this matter seriously. During these years of clarifying the truth, I've learned to listen to other people.
Some practitioners say that we can't let ordinary people lead us, instead we should be guiding them. I feel somewhat differently. I usually try to listen to the other party but I'm not polite to those wicked people from the police department. Although sometimes the other party may be rude, I still smile and say, “I'm very grateful that you've given me a chance to interact with you.” After I say this, the other party usually calms down and his tone changes. Although these words don't directly clarify the truth, they allow them to see a Falun Gong cultivator's kindness. Isn't this also clarifying the truth?
Another time, a person did not agree with our method of clarifying the truth. The practitioner became a little anxious and said, “The persecution happening in China now is very serious. Regardless of our approach, shouldn't you be looking at how brutal the persecution is?” Both sides began to argue and exchange words.
I've also encountered a similar situation. I usually listen quietly as this is also a process of calming my inner heart. Afterward, I say, “Thank you for raising this suggestion. I am very grateful for your frankness. I assume that your intention is that we should be able to clarify the truth more clearly, right?” As soon as I say this, our conversation immediately becomes very cordial.
Through many years of clarifying the truth, I remind myself all the time that every word that I say is clarifying the truth. The more sincere and rational my words are, the more they will move others. We can speak to people more easily when we are rational and are able to calm ordinary people's extreme mindset first.
Our Demeanor and Appearance Make a Difference
We often place emphasis on the word “clarifying” when clarifying the truth is mentioned. Indeed, clarifying the truth while speaking is very crucial. However, in reality, when we appear in front of sentient beings, everything that we present to them is the truth. Our appearance, smile, actions, tone, patience, our oral cleanliness and even our hairstyle are observed by people.
Every time I go to the quit the communist party center, I always wear nice and clean clothes. When I talk to people, I always smile and sincerely listen to them. I know that they are able to feel my righteous thoughts and kindness through my expression and this could melt those bad substances in them.
While we talk I use the opportunity to tell them the facts they need to know the most at the most crucial and suitable part of the conversation. This way, the result is often very good. When people walk past our center, even if they walk by hurriedly and don't really listen to us, the pure energy emitted, the cleanliness and peacefulness of our center, together with the good outlook of each Dafa disciple will definitely be imprinted in their memory.
I remembered when I was about to graduate from a master's program in China, a friend came to my place to relax. While chatting, he mentioned that he would often talk about Falun Gong with others and he stressed that no matter what anyone said, he would always believe that Falun Gong is good. He mentioned he saw from my behavior that Dafa disciples' kindness is beyond ordinary people.
I've found that many friends and relatives feel the same. They see my behavior and tell others about it. I have a relative who was so moved by my actions that he tells every person he meets how good Falun Gong is. He's now received huge blessings.
This applies to many Chinese people who travel overseas. They might not have the chance to understand much but they will talk about what they've seen and how they feel to their friends and relatives in China. There is nothing for them to hide as they truthfully talk about the impression we made on them.
In other words, when we clarify the truth to one person, there will be actually many more sentient beings behind him. When we really save this person, he will take the initiative to deliver the wonderfulness of Dafa to others. Because of this, we must be even more rational and use wisdom to treat every detail of saving sentient beings.
People Trust Us to Tell Them the Truth
I've lived overseas for almost ten years, so it's hard to calculate the number of Chinese people that I've clarified the truth to. Faced with various people, the way I approach them is always different. But from the moment the other person learns that I practice Falun Gong, he will know I'm telling him the truth.
When I talk with international students, I show concern for their studies. When I talk with elders, I ask about their health. When I talk to middle-aged people, I help to shoulder some of their stress in life. After doing this for years, I've come to understand that by letting the other party feel our care and become emotionally close, clarifying the truth will be smoother.
After talking with all kinds of people, I've learned to use various points of view to tell them the facts about Falun Gong. While we are talking here, in another dimensional field we are transmitting righteous energy. When we really put ourselves in their shoes, our kindness, wisdom and rationality will deeply move others. Thus, they will be saved and even help us spread the truth and may have the predestined relationship to obtain the Fa.
After clarifying truth for several years, I've realized how serious it is. I feel that our effect in clarifying the truth will be negative if our experience isn't positive. In other words, if we are unable to leave a good impression, we will most likely leave a bad impression. Thus, we must really pay attention to all our actions and words.
I feel that it's not easy to awaken a being. However, it is very easy to let a being degenerate, especially those in China, as everything around them is pulling them down. We are their only hope of being saved. If there is a problem in our actions and words, the slim glimmer of hope for that person to be saved may be destroyed.
Although it may seem that I'm exaggerating, this is what I truly feel. Thus, I always maintain righteous thoughts, display a very righteous state in all aspects, and try my very best to show the wonderful side of a Dafa disciple to people around me. I believe that by speaking rationally and treating everything seriously with wisdom, this task of clarifying the truth can be done well and solidly, and bring even more sentient beings home.
