(Minghui.org) In Dalian City, the court, Political and Legal Affairs Committee, 610 Office, and police department ignore and violate the law in implementing the policy of persecution. Below are a few recent examples of Falun Gong practitioners tried in Dalian.
Mr. Xia Yuanxin, 63, was arrested on July 6, 2013, for rescuing his niece, Ms. Wang Shoucheng, who had been illegally arrested for installing satellite dishes capable of receiving uncensored news about China. Mr. Xia was tried in Jinzhou Court in Dalian at 9 a.m. on February 25, 2014.
Mr. Xia's daughter, Xia Jing, called the presiding judge on February 24 to make sure she and her mother, Ms. Su Zhengqiu, could attend trial the following day.
Early on February 25, Mr. Xia's family arrived and tried to enter the courtroom. The bailiffs would not let Mr. Xia's wife or daughter in. Ms. Sue became extremely distraught. She began to cry and then collapsed.
Ms. Su lay on the floor outside the courtroom. Kind people brought clothes and food to keep her warm and comfortable, and her daughter sat next to her. When people learned that her husband was being tried for practicing Falun Gong and that his wife and daughter were not allowed to enter the courtroom, they denounced the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and condemned the disgraceful way the law being enforced.
Some of them understood the facts about Falun Gong and had quit the CCP. Plainclothes officers near the crowd overheard what the people were talking about.
At 9 a.m., a young man in plainclothes came out of the courtroom with a camera and took photos of the crowd in the street near the courthouse. At 1 p.m., he took more photos of the people standing around the courthouse and of those who were concerned about Mr. Xia's trial, including Ms. Su and her daughter.
The trial was scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with only a five-minute break at 11 a.m. However, the court announced an adjournment and said that another trial date would be scheduled. The court actually canceled all trials that day, saying that there was a power outage. People who had come to attend the trial in the afternoon were very frustrated. The lawyers were very dissatisfied with the cancelations and condemned the court.
After 3 p.m., six people who were in the courtroom came out and announced that the trial had ended. As Mr. Xia's wife tried to get to the exit of the parking lot, the bailiffs pushed her out of the way. Mr. Xia's daughter cried “Let me see my dad!” His wife once again collapsed.
Ganjingzi Court in Dalian City held a trial for Ms. Zhang Xiaoli at 9 a.m. on December 31, 2013. Ms. Zhang's mother, aunt, and uncle all came from other areas.
When the lawyer asked to have his client's handcuffs removed, the judge didn't allow it. The lawyer asked the court to replace the presiding judge according to the legal provisions. At 11:30 a.m., the new presiding judge had still not arrived. A female court officer came to announce the court in recess, to reconvene at 1 p.m.
At 1 p.m., the lawyers and relatives returned, but the judge didn't show up. At 3:00 p.m, court was adjourned, with another court date to be announced later.
At 9 a.m. on March 13, Ms. Zhang was tried again in Ganjingzi Court.
Ms. Xu Li was scheduled to be tried in Ganjingzi Court on December 12, 2013, but the trial was canceled due to heavy snow. According to the latest information, Ms. Xu was secretly tried and sentenced to four years in prison.
Mr. An Xiangyu has relatives who practice Falun Gong. He told people the facts about Falun Gong when chatting with friends online. He was falsely accused by the Internet police and arrested.
His home was ransacked, and his computer, printer, and many personal belongings were confiscated. Mr. An's father had now been forced to leave home, because the police threatened to arrest him, too.
Mr. An's mother was not allowed to enter the courtroom.
Thirteen practitioners were tried for installing satellite dishes capable of receiving uncensored news about China on July 6, 2013. The lawyers made legitimate requests and defense statements and raised some doubt. As a result, a verdict was not reached.
This angered officials from Dalian Political and Legal System and the 610 Office, and they decided to try each family separately.
The 13 practitioners were arrested for installing satellite dishes in Jinzhou New District in Dalian City. At the end of January 2014, the Jingzhou New District Court and the Developing District Court put all 13 on trial.
When Mr. Liu Qingtao was tried on January 23, his son, Liu Chunming, tried to defend his father as the second defender. He went over the formalities as second defender and carefully prepared his defense. However, the judge disqualified Liu Chunming from appearing in court. He was very upset at being deprived of his right to help defend his father. Lawyer Chen from Beijing pleaded not guilty for Mr. Liu Qingtao.
