(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shang Liping was illegally sentenced to three years in prison in July 10, 2013, by the Wanghua District Court of Fushun City. She was charged with: “A crime in preparation.”
She has recently been taken to Masanjia "Compulsory Rehabilitation Center," formerly known as Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. The former labor camp is now a branch of Shenyang City Women’s Prison and has retained the same staff members.
According to media reports, China announced that it would end its forced labor system in 2007 and claimed that it would close its labor camps last year. It appears that the camps are simply undergoing name changes and being assimilated into the country's prison system.
After Ms. Shang was sentenced, her husband had a major heart attack and died a few days later. Her mother, in her 70s, and young daughter are now on their own.
After Ms. Shang was arrested, her family went to Shenyang City Women’s Prison several times but were never allowed to see her. They have only now been informed about her transfer to Masanjia, which is notorious for its brutal treatment of practitioners.
Practitioners Taken to Masanjia
Practitioners Ms. Chi Xiuhua and Ms. Yu Shuxian from Xinbin County were also taken to Masanjia after sentencing in 2013. Their families were denied visitation also.
