(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Wei'an, Ms. Liao Dairong, Ms. Meng Yiqiu, and Ms. Ren Zuhua were taken to the Pi County Court in Chengdu City on April 9, 2014, for the second time, and they were all illegally sentenced to three years in prison.
Pi County Court tried Mr. Wang Wei'an first, at 9:30 a.m. on April 9. The court officers and armed police surrounded the spectators in the courtroom and took photos of them. Mr. Wang's hands were cuffed behind him. The prosecutor read the so-called allegations of the prosecution so quietly that no one could hear what she said and argue with her. Mr. Wang's defense attorney raised the issue and the prosecutor had a court officer hand the materials to the attorney. After the court was adjourned, the judge sentenced Mr. Wang to three years in prison. The entire process took less than 30 minutes.
At 3 p.m. that day, the prosecutor tried Mr. Zhang Rui, Ms. Liao Dairong, Ms. Meng Yiqiu, and Ms. Ren Zuhua in Pi County Court. Mr. Zhang did not show up in court. According to the family members who attended, the entire trial lasted a few minutes. The judge came to the courtroom and started to read the verdict. The court was adjourned after the judge finished reading it, and no arguments were allowed.
Previous Persecution Accounts
Ms. Liao Dairong, Ms. Meng Yiqiu, and Ms. Ren Zuhua were arrested on July 9, 2012, at Zhanqi Village, Tangchang Town. Mr. Zhang Rui and Mr. Wang Wei'an were arrested on October 26, 2012.
The prosecution tried Mr. Zhang Rui and Mr. Wang Wei'an on October 17, 2013, for the first time. Their defense attorneys pleaded not guilty for the two and asked for their immediate release.
When Mr. Zhang Rui's attorney defended him, the judges and the prosecutor Zhang Juequn interrupted him many times. When Mr. Wang Wei'an's attorney spoke, prosecutor Hu Zhen threatened him and asked him why he defended Falun Gong practitioners. The attorney asked, “Where can you find in any law book that Falun Gong is illegal?” Hu was speechless. The judge immediately adjourned.
