(Minghui.org) March 19, 2014 was an open house day for Tilanqiao Police Station in Shanghai, where the general public was invited to meet with the police chief and other officers to report any concerns that they might have. When Ms. Wang Quandi, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hongkou District, went to report suspicious monitoring that she had been subjected to, she was arrested. More than one month has passed since then, but her whereabouts remain unknown to her family.
In the past two months, Shanghai authorities have conducted three waves of arrests of local Falun Gong practitioners. In February, more than ten older practitioners in Minxing District were arrested while watching a Shen Yun DVD together. Just a few days later, another nine practitioners from the same district were arrested while reading Falun Gong books together. On March 26, more than 30 police officers and firemen broke into a private home and arrested nine more practitioners.
More Information on Ms. Wang's Latest and Past Arrests
Ms. Wang Quandi is in her 60's. In February 2014, she found out that someone was following and monitoring her. She questioned the local residential committee and policemen, but they denied being part of it. Some police officers at Tilanqiao Police Station defamed Falun Dafa and told her that even if they followed her, they could do so if they wanted. When Ms. Wang went to the police station on open house day to object to being followed, they arrested her.
Ms. Wang has been arrested multiple times since 2000. On December 26, 2002, the authorities arrested and detained her. On February 11, 2003, she was arrested again and put in the Shanghai Brainwashing Center, officially known as the “Legal Education Center.” On November 2, 2007, Hongkou District Domestic Security arrested her from home. Her mother, who is in her 80's, was left alone at home. Ms. Wang was sentenced to three years in prison and tortured in the Shanghai Women's Prison.
