(Minghui.org) On March 26-29, 2014, more than 20 Falun Gong practitioners from Changsha City and nearby areas in Hunan Province were illegally arrested by officers from Changsha City Domestic Security Division and the police department.
On March 26, officers from the Yunan Street Police Station in Changsha broke into practitioner Zhang Lingge's apartment at around 10:00 a.m. They arrested three practitioners: Zhang Lingge, Liu Chunxia, and Huang Yonghui. They also illegally searched Zhang's home, confiscating several printers and computers.
Huang Yonghui has since been released, but Zhang Lingge and Liu Chunxia are still incarcerated in the First Detention Center in Changsha City.
A series of arrests and searches occurred on March 29.
At 2:00 a.m., police broke into practitioner Zhao Yaling's apartment. Zhao, a professor at Changsha University of Science and Technology, was arrested, and is being held in Liuyuang Detention Center.
At 2:00 p.m., officers from the Changsha City Domestic Security Division and the county police department arrested practitioner Yan Hong.
At 5:00 p.m., officers from Langli Police Station in Changsha County searched Yan Hong's house in Taogongmiao Subdivision. They confiscated Falun Gong books, materials, and two portable computer hard-drives. Yan Hong was sent to the First Detention Center.
Also on the afternoon of the March 29, police officers from Changsha City searched practitioner Zhou's house, arrested Zhou, and confiscated several computers and printers. It is suspected that several other practitioners who resided at Zhou's home were also seized. It is unknown where Zhou is being detained.
At 4:00 p.m., seven officers from Langli Police Station, led by officer Chen Donghui, searched the homes of practitioner Liu Zhengwei and his brother in Tuling Subdivision. Liu Zhengwei escaped. The police confiscated Falun Gong books, materials, and printers.
Later that night, officers from the Shuyuan Street Police Station broke into Zhang Furong's apartment on Shuyuan St. in Changsha City, and arrested him. They transferred him to Liuyang Detention Center the next day.
Zhang Furong's roommate, a practitioner also surnamed Zhang, was also arrested. Zhang was released after being jailed in Liuyang Detention Center for three days.
In addition to the arrests in Changsha City, police in Liuyang City (50 miles from Changsha City) arrested four practitioners, who were then sent to the Liuyang Detention Center.
The arrests were planned and carried out by the Changsha City Domestic Security Division.
