(Minghui.org) I'm an ordinary farmer in Sichuan Province. In the 80s, in an attempt to start a business, I borrowed 3000 yuan twice from a friend. The two loans were 6000 yuan in total and I agreed to pay my friend 3% interest. However my business did not do well and I could not completely pay off one of the loans when it was due. Consequently interest accumulated on the loan. The principal and interest on the loan added up to 5000 yuan.
My friend passed away in 2000. Naturally, the loans were transferred to his wife. I should have signed a new loan agreement with her and agreed to pay the interest accrued. However I had many debts and could not make any payments. I told her: “In the 5000 yuan debt, 2000 yuan is interest. It's unreasonable to calculate interest on interest owed. Furthermore the interest is too high.” My friend's wife interrupted me and said: “You only need to return the initial amount you borrowed. I won't hold you accountable for the interest.”
I was astonished at her generosity. After her husband's death, she did not have a stable income. She depended on a small shop selling condiments for a living.
From the time I took the loan in the 80s, the interest accumulated had now exceeded the principal. Moreover, at that time, the 6000 yuan my friend loaned me was enough to build a 200-300 square meter house. If one factored in inflation rates, then it was not an exaggeration to say that she had taken a complete loss in the investment.
Words could not express my gratitude. I kept thanking her. She replied: “I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner. Our Master taught us to be good people and to be considerate of others at all times. If I did not cultivate in Falun Dafa and I know that you're aware of my family's financial situation, I would not treat this loan like that. Therefore you don't have to thank me. If you want to express your gratitude, then thank my Master.”
After that, she did not act like other creditors, knocking on my door to chase after payment or swear at me. I paid her whenever I could. Sometimes I only managed to repay 500 yuan in a year. There were times when I did not even pay her a cent for the whole year. Yet she never pressed me for money.
One year, as the Chinese New Year was approaching, I did not have any money to pay her. I felt very bad and asked her to come to my food stand and pick whatever she needed for New Year celebrations. In fact, I was hoping that this could help pay off some of what I owed. In the end, she came to my booth, picked up several items and paid for them. I was truly touched and kept saying: “You are really a good person, thank you so much!” She answered: “If you want to say thanks, then thank my Master. He taught me to conduct myself according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”
Later on, I learned the truth about Falun Dafa through her and renounced the Chinese Communist Party. I also recite “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” often.
I finally paid off the 6000 yuan debt in April this year.
Through this Falun Dafa practitioner, I learned that May 13 is Master Li Hongzhi's birthday. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Master Li Happy Birthday! Thank you Master Li. Your teachings have transformed people into wonderful citizens. Throughout these years, I've also realized that those who practice Falun Dafa are noble people. I no longer believe the lies spread by the communist regime which defames Falun Dafa.
