(Minghui.org) Ms. Kang Cuixian was born in 1949 in the remote countryside in Heilongjiang Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1998 while working in the Acheng District in Harbin City. Soon afterwards, all her long-term illnesses disappeared and she enjoyed good health and happiness. However, this ordinary hardworking woman suffered illegal arrests, detention and forced labor simply because she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong.
The following is Ms. Kang's personal account.
Miraculous Recovery
When I went to work in the Acheng District in Harbin City in 1997, I had all kinds of ailments, including headaches, scalp inflammation, high blood pressure, trachoma, arthritis, neurotic disorder, and hyperplasia of the mammary glands. In the winter and early spring my hands and feet were frostbitten and always hurt. My scalp was inflamed and always hurt and my hair fell out in tufts. I couldn't see clearly and my eyes were usually tired and caused me constant headaches. My back and legs ached, and sometimes I could hardly walk and fell down. I suffered miserably and life was extremely hard for me at that time.
I started to practice Falun Gong in June 1998 and conducted myself according to the teachings of Master Li, the founder of Falun Gong, based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. After a little while, all my health problems disappeared without my taking any medication or having any injections. New hair grew on my scalp. My eyes were no longer tired and my eyesight was good again, just as it was when I was young. I could carry things weighing ten kilos up to the 7th floor where I lived with ease. I truly experienced the miraculous power of Dafa. My husband, who is not a practitioner, was so amazed that he has always been very supportive of me, and as a result, he has also benefited from Dafa and is in very good health.
Persecution
In July 1999, the CCP started to persecute Falun Gong. We were no longer allowed to read Zhuan Falun or do the group exercises together. We knew we were all good people and didn't do anything wrong, so a few of us continued to practice the exercises outdoors.
Someone reported us. On the evening of February 11, 2000, I was illegally arrested from my home and taken to Acheng No. 2 Detention Center.
Beaten, Force-fed, and Extortion
At the detention center, we few practitioners did the exercises together. Officers came in and poured water over us. Some of them lashed us with “little white dragons” (white plastic tubes), and others tried to trip us to stop us from doing the exercises.
Torture reenactment: Violent beating
We practiced the exercises every day and they beat us every day. So we went on a hunger strike to protest. They then force-fed us. Usually three or four people force-fed one practitioner.
We refused to open our mouths, so they grabbed our noses and cheeks and pinched us. As soon as we were forced to open our mouths a little they thrust, a tube into our stomach. We were force fed salty water, alcohol, and corn flour paste.

I was tortured for over two months at the detention center before being taken to a brainwashing center, where I was held for six days before they took me back to the detention center. I was not released until April 19, and the detention center also extorted 1000 yuan from me. I was detained for 68 days this time.
Beaten, Hung up, Force-fed, and Extortion
On May 26, 2000, a few practitioners and I went to Beijing by train to submit an appeal letter to the central appeals office. We wanted to explain that Falun Gong practitioners are good and that Dafa and Master Li are totally innocent and that they shouldn't persecute good people. I was arrested again and taken to the No. 2 Detention Center.
When we practiced the exercises, the officers rushed in and beat us with plastic tubes and threw us down on the cold concrete floor.
Once after the beating, an officer handcuffed eight female practitioners in pairs to the bars of the window for 24 hours. We were not even allowed to use the restroom.
I was detained in the No. 2 Detention Center for 13 days, then transferred to the No. 1 Detention Center for three months.
Being imprisoned in the No. 1 Detention Center was like living in hell. Some practitioners were suffocated during force-feeding, some were covered with black and blue bruises from being beaten and pinched. When the tube was taken out of practitioner Sun Yanfang's stomach, it was stained with blood.
I was released 93 days later. The detention center extorted 1500 yuan from me, of which local police officer Li Xiaojiang took 1000 yuan.
Persecution in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp
On December 23, 2000, police officers Ma Jianfeng and Li Xiaojiang came to my home and demanded, “Are you still practicing Falun Gong?” I said, “It's so good. How could I not practice?” They searched my home and found some Dafa articles I had copied. I clarified the facts to them, but they refused to listen. They tore up and burned the articles and took away copies of Falun Gong books they found. They arrested me again.
On June 14, 2001, Acheng District Police Department sentenced five female practitioners to one year of forced labor, including me. We were taken to Wanjia Forced Labor Camp.
Wanjia Forced Labor Camp was indeed an evil place, where the officers were extremely cruel to Falun Gong practitioners. When I first arrived I was sent to Division 7. The guards forced each of us to sit on a small plastic stool for long periods of time without moving. If one moved even a little, she would be beaten or forced to stand for hours.
The living conditions were extremely bad. I developed scabies all over my body. Blood and puss stuck to my pants and the slightest movement was extremely painful.
On November 6, 2001, Shi Ying, head of the forced labor camp, personally instructed the officers and inmates to trick us into going to the camp hospital.
She ordered us into the corridor and told a doctor to use a spoon to scrape our scabies. I was the first one to be scraped. I bled profusely and told the doctors and inmates: “You think you are doing us a favor. In fact, you are torturing us. We haven't done anything wrong. You are being used by the evil. It won't bring you any good if you treat us this way.” Two criminal inmates were touched by what I said and refused to continue what they were doing.
On January 21, 2002, I was transferred to Division 7. Those of us who had severe scabies were sent to the second floor to be strictly monitored by a criminal named Fu Lina. She was very cruel and beat us with chairs, brooms, and bottles filled with water whenever we sat cross-legged. Meng Xianzhi, a practitioner who was detained with me, died as a result of this brutal persecution on March 4, 2002
Forced to Leave Home
I was released and came home on April 11, 2002, but the persecution did not stop. My husband was forced to resign from his job. Police and members of our neighborhood committee continued to harass us. In the end we had to leave our home and move to another place.
I've been cultivating in Dafa for 16 years. Although I've suffered repeated persecution at the hands of the CCP, I understand deeply in my heart through personal experiences that Falun Dafa is the truth. Our Master teaches us to be good people. We haven't done anything wrong. It's the evil CCP that is wrong and has committed crimes against humanity. No matter what tribulations I've suffered I've always firmly believed in our Master and Dafa and have steadfastly walked my path of cultivation.
