(Minghui.org) Working as a salesperson, I am busy meeting people every day and have little spare time. Since so many Chinese people have been indoctrinated with misinformation, I require of myself to tell people the truth about Falun Gong so they're no longer hostile towards it. After years of trial and error, I have found an approach that is suitable for my profession.
I interact with three types of people on a daily basis: coworkers, business partners, and clients. Each type is different and each individual also varies from one another. I am always mindful to adjust my approach on a case by case basis.
Overcoming Fear and Saving Coworkers
I was afraid when first telling my coworkers about Falun Gong: what if they do not understand me and alienate me instead? What if they report this to the police? As time went on I gradually grew more mature and stopped hesitating. With more interfering elements eliminated in other dimensions, more people were willing to hear the truth about Falun Gong.
Once when attending a company meeting, I met a former coworker. She was glad to see me,“You have not changed after so many years and still look very young. Can you give me some tips?”I smiled and replied, “You know I am a Falun Gong practitioner.”“You still practice it?” She was surprised.“Of course! That is why I am healthy and look young.” I said.I then told her in detail about Falun Gong and the persecution in China. When I met her again later, I explained more about the evilness of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party). I then asked her if she wanted to quit the CCP for a safe future, and she said yes.
This experience cleared my fear and encouraged me to do better. Since then I began to look for more opportunities like this.
Once my supervisor asked me to join a two-month long lecture tour, during which I was to share my sales experiences. Thinking it could affect me doing the three things, I turned it down with the excuse of a tight work schedule. One coworker, also a practitioner, disagreed with my decision. She said to me seriously, “Most people working here know you practice Falun Gong and know of your outstanding performance. Attending the lecture tour is a great opportunity to validate the Fa. Why did you pass by this opportunity?” I thought about it and knew she was right. In my mind I asked Teacher for help and hoped for another chance.
Two days later, my supervisor talked with me again, “The senior management still wants you to participate in the lecture tour. Please help support it.” I immediately thanked Teacher for his help.
During the lecture tour, I considered myself as a Dafa disciple and treated others with compassion. When giving speeches during the daytime, my mind was calm and peaceful. Instead of thanking the Communist Party like some other lecturers, I talked about things naturally from my heart. My honesty was well-received by the audience. In the evening, I talked with coworkers, explaining to them the facts about Falun Gong and asked them to quit the CCP.
Two months quickly passed. During the banquet on the last night, an upper management officer thanked me, “Your speech was very touching and it was indeed very good.” I knew it was Teacher who gave me this opportunity to save my coworkers. I simply fulfilled my responsibility.
Business Partners
Despite the recent recession, my sales performance has been steady over the past several years with increasing revenue. I knew it was because of blessings from Teacher. Representatives from various companies often visited me to introduce their products and attempted to bribe me. I often said to them, “Please stop bringing me gifts. I will sell your product as long as its up to standard.” I then asked if they wanted to know how I became successful, and they all said yes. I thus told them the benefits of practicing Falun Gong.
One day, a higher officer in the company called me, asking me to help his sister-in-law to sell her product. After meeting her and carefully reading the materials she brought, I said, “This product has some defects and it may be difficult to sell.” I explained to her my opinion and suggested she come back once she improved the product.
The lady thought I refused to help her because her gift was too little, so she did not want to leave. I said to her, “I am a Falun Gong practitioner. We follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and are not allowed to accept bribes.” I then explained to her more facts about Falun Gong and how it improves one’s morality.
Upon leaving, she was deeply touched, “It is hard to come across good people like you.” We have gotten along well since then and she also began to read Zhuan Falun.
Clients
Having enough clients is critical for a sales representative, and some of my coworkers would even fight with each other for more clients. This is a not a problem for me. Instead I always have a good sales performance and lots of clients—many of them are loyal ones. Some coworkers were curious how I achieved that. I knew this happened because of Teacher's help and that these people have come to me to be saved.
To explain the facts about Falun Gong on a larger scale to all my clients, I decided to hold a reception for customer appreciation. I got another practitioner to come help with the reception as well as send forth righteous thoughts.
Such customer appreciation events usually have a major session of introducing new products. I took that opportunity to cover broad topics, from useful tips and news, to traditional culture. In the end, it naturally moved to the facts of Falun Gong. My clients were motivated and the result was very good.
I first started with an incident that I saw. Someone intentionally bumped into a moving vehicle to extort money. Many people have heard of similar situations as well. I then said that, “We all know the importance of honesty. Deceit by one person will ruin him or herself, while deceit by a news agency will undermine the entire society. This is especially so in China where the media is tightly controlled.”
“Most of us may have seen the so-called ‘Tiananmen Square Self-Immolation Incident’ broadcast by the CCTV several years ago. There are a couple of problems about that incident. For example, how could the plastic bottle, which was full of gasoline, remain intact after it caught on fire? How could the girl speak and sing in merely days after her windpipe incision? How could the journalist come close to the severely burned patient without wearing a protective coat?”
Everyone was silent and I then explained that the incident was staged to defame Falun Gong. After that, I said, “Maybe you have received pamphlets or other materials about Falun Gong in the past. Please do not discard them. Read them and learn more. By holding the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, you will have a safe future.”
Everyone applauded and thanked me after my talk. In my mind I knew Teacher was helping me and I was very grateful.
