(Minghui.org) Illegally imprisoned Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Qin’s sentence will end on June 5, 2014. We appeal to the public to pay attention to his case and to prevent the 610 Office from extending his incarceration and persecution.
Mr. Zhang Qin was a quality assurance section head and chief engineer in Shanghai Shengde Plastic Corporation Ltd. He was sentenced to five years in prison for practicing Falun Gong. On July 20, 2010, Mr. Zhang was transferred to Tilanqiao Prison’s Ward No.1, where he is still imprisoned. During his incarceration, he experienced brutal tortures, such as being beaten and tied up with ropes.
Illegal Imprisonment
Mr. Zhang never stopped telling the inmates who were assigned to monitor him about how wonderful Falun Gong is and the truth about the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution and human rights abuses. He refused to wear prison uniforms, and he insisted on doing the Falun Gong exercises every day. The prison guards harshly tortured him. They tied his arms to his back, forced him to sit on hard benches or stand still for hours, locked him in solitary confinement, ordered criminal inmates to assault him, did not allow his family to see him, and did not allow him to buy food.
During the five years of his imprisonment, Mr. Zhang was often confined in a tiny room without any contact with others. He experienced hunger, pain, fatigue, and many other kinds of hardship. It has been very hard, especially for someone who is nearly 60 years old.
