(Minghui.org) Secret trials have become all too common in China since the authorities began their brutal crackdown on Falun Gong. In these cases, families are not contacted, and it can take a long time before any information about a sentencing is released to the public, if at all.
Letting People Know About the Persecution
Ms. Feng Caifeng was arrested on November 16, 2013, for distributing Falun Dafa materials that told the public about the persecution. She was secretly tried in early June 2014 in the Leizhou City Court in Guangdong Province.
In court, Ms. Feng insisted that she had not violated any laws in practicing Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and trying to be a good person. She then asked for an immediate release. When she was sentenced to prison, she refused to sign the verdict and filed for an immediate appeal.
She was sentenced to 5 years in prison, but her family was completely unaware of her trial. Because of this, they could not hire a lawyer for her..
Numerous Arrests
Ms. Feng was born in 1975 and lived in Tangjia Town, Leizhou City. Since the communist regime launched its persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, she has been arrested three times and sentenced to prison twice. She was last released in December 2008.
After Ms. Feng's family found out about the most recent trial, her parents went to the Leizhou City Police Department at least eight times asking to see her. The authorities denied their requests with various excuses.
