A Father Calls for Help to Rescue His Son Unlawfully Detained in China

July 13, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Heilongjiang Province, China

(Minghui.net) Since early March, Jian Sanjiang City, China, has been attracting a lot of unwanted international attention. Authorities there are scrambling to contain the fallout of a human rights case involving the illegal arrest and detention of Mr. Jiang Bo, a Falun Gong practitioner.

On April 4, 2014, Mr. Jiang, who had been working in the city of Harbin, was arrested by the local police and detained. Mr. Jiang Zhensheng, his 70-year-old father, is asking the international community and human rights organizations to help secure his release.

Mr. Jiang Bo Arrested, Home Ransacked

“My son was arrested at work in Harbin on April 4 by National Security Brigade officers and the Harbin police,” said Mr. Zhensheng. “They later ransacked our home. I am heartbroken, because I have not heard from him since.

“I keep wondering where he is and if he is okay. Every day I try to drown my sorrows in alcohol, but to no avail. I am often dizzy and cannot fall asleep at night. My home feels empty without him. I feel so awful I wish I were dead.

“One day I went to the Mei Libao Police Station to get something signed. That’s when I discovered that Bo had being illegally detained in the Nangang District."

“My Son Became a Better Person after Practicing Falun Gong!”

“My son was always a good boy, but after practicing Falun Gong, he became even better. Now he is more sincere, kind, and tolerant, and his health has greatly improved. He helps me with all the household chores and never complains.

“His supervisors often praise him for being a hard worker. He is always willing to help our friends and relatives whenever they are short of money, yet he spends very little on himself. Everyone appreciates his demeanor and upright character. Falun Gong is great - it has taught my son to be selfless and to respect his parents.

“Chief of Police Extorted 5,000 Yuan from Me”

“Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Bo has spent three years in a forced labor camp. I, too, have been detained. It was at the Mei Lisi Police Station on a silly, trumped up charge. I was released after Gu Zhimin, the chief of police, extorted 5,000 yuan (about $830) from me.

“For the past ten years, my wife has worried for our son's safety, due to the Chinese Communists Party's senseless persecution of Falun Gong. She passed away at the age of 60, as a result of illness. Since then, my son and I have stood by each other through thick and thin."

It Is Completely Lawful to Practice Falun Gong in China

“Every lawyer that I have consulted has told me the same story: my son has not broken any laws by practicing Falun Gong.

“One lawyer explained it this way: 'Although the peaceful, self-improvement practice has been banned by the Party and a massive campaign of misinformation, intimidation, and brutality has spread across the land, it is and always has been, within the constitutional rights of Chinese citizens to practice Falun Gong!'”
