(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 28 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 18 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Laiyuan County, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Meng Xuehui, Ms. Duan Guiying, Ms. Zhao Shumei, Ms. Dong Shuge, and non-practitioner Mr. Li Fuxiang were arrested and taken to the Liayuan County Domestic Security Division by officers from the local police station on July 3, 2014. While being detained at the police station, all of them were tortured.

Ms. Dong was pout solitary confinement in a small cell and the division's deputy captain Zhang Fang beat her and shocked her with an electric baton.

Zhang also confiscated from Ms. Duan 300 yuan in paper bills with messages about the persecution of Falun Gong printed on them. The police forced the four practitioners to give their fingerprints, give blood, and issued the 15-day administrative detention order in parole form. The four practitioners were released on July 4, 2014.

The driver was beaten by Zhang Fang and Yang Jun and released early on the morning of July 4, 2014.

2. [Puyang City, Henan Province] Two Practitioners Detained

Ms. Zhang Yuling and Ms. Zhang Xiaobo were arrested on July 5, 2014. Zhang Wei from the Domestic Security Sub-Division of the Puyang City Police Department and other officers ransacked their homes and confiscated Falun Gong books and truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. They are being held at the Puyang City Detention Center.

3. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Liu Shiwei Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Liu Shiwei was arrested and taken to the Guangzhou City Brainwashing Center on June 30, 2014.

4. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Two Practitioners Harassed

Mr. Ma Zefen and Mr. Pan Wanfeng were harassed over the phone by officers from the Jinqiao Police Station in Langfan City. The police ordered them to come to the police station and write the guarantee statement. Their families were also harassed.

5. [Zigong City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wang Zhijian Tortured

Mr. Wang Zhijian, in his 70s, was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Zigong City Daan Police Department around July 6, 2014. The police confiscated his computer and cell phone. He is under "residential surveillance" at Guangda Hospital in Zigong City where his condition is serious.

6. [Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province] Several Practitioners Tortured in Beijiang Prison

Both Mr. Bu Weiquan and Mr. Liu Qinming were sentenced to five years in prison and Mr. Zeng Huantao to four years. They and three other practitioners were transferred from Meizhou Prison to the Shaoguan City Beijiang Prison.

Several practitioners were also sentenced. Mr. Li Hongzhou, Mr. Wu Yongjian, Mr. Wen Huasheng, and Mr. Wang Xiangyu were sentenced to four years in prison, Mr. Zhao Wei and Mr. Huang Daoming to three years, and Mr. Shi Zhiyong to three and a half years.

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Qu Mingzhu and His Mother Detained

Mr. Qu Mingzhu and his mother were arrested by officers from the Junmin Police Station on July 6, 2014, for posting truth-clarification flyers. They might be held at the Harbin City No.2 or No. 3 Detention Center.

8. [Chongqing] Ms. Gu Guoxian Leaving Home to Avoid Further Persecution

Ms. Gu Guoxian, 69, was arrested on January 26, 2014, for talking to people and distributing truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home. She was placed under a 15-day administrative detention sentence and released on February 12, 2014.

Ms. Gu was taken to the Chongqing Brainwashing Center by officers from the Changyuan Police Station. They were under orders from the county Domestic Security Division on May 23, 2014. She escaped that evening and had to leave home to avoid further persecution.

9. [Lushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ning Chunyan Detained

Ms. Ning Chunyan was arrested on July 8, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is being held at the Shushiying Police Station.

10. [Chibi City, Hubei Province] Mr. Huang Junliang Arrested

Mr. Huang Junliang was arrested and taken to the Wuhan City Brainwashing Center by officers from the Chibi City 610 Office and Domestic Security Division on the morning of July 8, 2014. The police confiscated his car key, hit his wife on the head until it bled, and handcuffed his son whose clothes were torn.

11. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ji Sujuan Tortured

Ms. Ji Sujuan was arrested at home by Jiao Chen and other officers from the Domestic Security Division on the morning of July 7, 2014. They ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, flyers about the persecution of Falun Gong, and cash. Because Ms. Ji refused to cooperate, the police dragged her down the stairs from the fifth floor to the first floor. Her back and legs were injured, and she is now incapacitated.

12. [Heishan County, Liaoning Province] Two Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu Yuzhen and another practitioner were arrested on July 7, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Liu is being held at the Jinzhou Detention Center.

The other practitioner's home was ransacked. This practitioner was released after the authorities extorted 10,000 yuan from him/her.

13. [Gaoan City, Jiangxi Province] Two Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Huang Eying and Ms. Wu Aihua were arrested by officers from the Chengnan Police Station on the afternoon of July 8, 2014, for distributing truth-clarification materials about the persecution of Falun Gong.

14. [Sichuan Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Zhao Banghai, Ms. Li Changqiu, her husband, and Ms. Li Xieying were arrested at home by a dozen officers waiting for them on the evening of July 8, 2014. The police ransacked their homes and confiscated laptop computers, computers, paper bills with messages about the persecution of Falun Gong printed on them, and informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police did not leave their homes until 4 a.m. The practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Heishan County, Liaoning Province] Two Practitioners Arrested

Two elderly practitioners including Ms. Liu Suzhen were arrested by officers from the Dazing Town Police Station on July 7, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were held at the police station overnight. They released the older practitioner who is in her 70s the next day, but not before extorting funds from her. Ms. Liu was taken to the Jinzhou Detention Center.

16. [Zhumadian City, Henan Province] Two Practitioners Detained

Mr. Deng Quanshan, about 42, was arrested at work on July 23, 2014. He was sentenced to a five-year prison term in early June 2014. Mr. Kang Fuchun, about 52, was arrested at work on August 9, 2014. Both of them are still being held at the Zhumadian City Detention Center.

17. [Jimo City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Li Minge's home was ransacked by officers from the Fengcheng Police Station in mid-April 2014. No one was then at home. The police confiscated Falun Gong books and turned her home upside down.

At the same time, the police broke into the homes of Mr. Wang Jijing and Mr. Wang Jijun. They forced Mr. Wang Jijing to give his telephone number and confiscated Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. They also confiscated informational materials about the Minghui website and Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs.

18. [Dengzhou City, Henan Province] Mr. Zhang Junjie Detained

Mr. Zhang Junjie was arrested by officers from the Shengli Police Station on July 6, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police ransacked his home that evening. He is being held at the Dengzhou City Detention Center.

19. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yang Jiangwei Imprisoned

Mr. Yang Jiangwei has been incarcerated and tortured in Nanguanling Prison for more than seven years. His hands peel and crack and itch and will not heal.

20. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Lige Detained

Ms. Wang Lige was arrested at her home by officers from Jinzhou City on the evening of July 7, 2014. The police then ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, computer, and CDs. She is being held at the Jinzhou City Detention Center.

21. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Ni Xiuyun and Ms. Wang Yurong Arrested

Ms. Ni Xiuyun and Ms. Wang Yurong were arrested by officers from the Zhujiangdao Police Station on July 8, 2014. The police ransacked Ms. Wang's home and confiscated two printers and 400 yuan in paper bills with messages about the persecution of Falun Gong printed on them. They were released.
