Ms. Gu Zucui was illegally arrested and taken to the Aoping police station on January 6, 2014, by Yang Shaoqi and Liu Guangfu from the Aoping 610 Office. When Mr. Bai heard about her arrest, he went to the police station to ask for her release. Officers Hu Zhiqiang and Wu Taichang detained him as well. They also searched and ransacked his house and took away his computer, printer, Falun Gong books, and 200 yuan (the cash was later returned), as well as other personal belongings.
Mr. Bai's wife went to the police station to demand his release. She asked Hu Zhiqiang, “My husband used to have many illnesses, but when he started to practice Falun Gong, they all disappeared and he became healthy. His co-workers and others highly respect him. Why is he persecuted for being a good person?”
“Jiang Zemin ordered the persecution,” replied Hu.
The police even detained and interrogated Mr. Bai's younger brother, when he went to reason with the police and asked for his release.
The Pengzhou Police Department, Aoping Town Police Station, and Aoping 610 Office wanted to sentence Mr. Bai to prison. An official even said outright, “Keep him in prison until his death.” The Procuratorate rejected the case due to insufficient evidence. However, the police still refused to release him.
In June 2014, a righteous person started a campaign for Mr. Bai Guiyin, demanding his immediate release. Many people who knew or were sympathetic signed and left their fingerprints on the petition. The Aoping 610 Office staff and police officers threatened the public: “Whoever signs the petition will lose their “Farmland Care Fund” and pension money, and their child will not be allowed to go to college or join the military.” Police also arrested other practitioners, trying to get a hold of the petition.
Mr. Bai Guiying and Ms. Gu Zucui are still incarcerated in the Pengzhou Detention Center.
