(Minghui.org) After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) dissolved the forced labor camp system in 2013, it began to sentence people to other existing facilities that persecute Falun Gong practitioners.
Between January and June in 2014, the police, Procuratorate and judicial departments under the 610 Office have been suppressing lawyers, convened trials without notifying practitioners' families, and sentenced over 20 practitioners. Among them, seventeen practitioners received sentences from three to five years.
Seventeen Hubei Practitioners Were Sentenced from Three to Five Years
1) Hanjiang Court in Wuhan City Wrongly Sentenced Four Practitioners
Judges from the Hanjiang District Court in Wuhan City illegally sentenced three university lecturers. Mr. Shen Xuewu and Mr. Zhao Hu were sentenced to four-year terms, and Mr. Chen Gang to a three-year prison term, on January 6, 2014.
Ms. Cui Hai was sentenced to five years, despite her being in critical condition as a result of persecution. Her family has appealed her sentence.

The Wuhan Medium Court upheld the verdict and Ms. Cui was taken to the Wuhan Woman's Prison in Hubei Province in April. This was the second time she was held in a prison.
2) Wuhan City Jiangxia Court Wrongly Sentenced Four Practitioners
On March 20, 2014, at 9:00 a.m., judges from the Jiangxia District Court in Wuhan City, Hubei Province sentenced Mr. Hu Dongsheng, Ms. Wu Mei, Ms. Sun Zuying, and Ms. Liu Jinzhi to five-year terms, and Ms. Liu to a three-year prison term.
3) Qiaokou District Court, Wuhan City
Ms. Wang Xiaoshun and Ms. Xu Yanping from Wuhan City were sentenced to a three-year prison term by the Qiaokou District Court during a secret trial.
The judges sentenced Ms. Wang Xiaoshun and Ms. Xu Yanping to three-year prison terms on April 4, 2014.
Ms. Xu has appealed to the next level of the court. When Ms. Wang's family hired a lawyer and wanted to appeal, officials from the Qiaokou District claimed that they missed the deadline and thus could not appeal.
The Wuhan City Qiaokou District Court sentenced Mr. Yang to a four-year prison term. Mr. Yang Lingfu was tried on April 11, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. His defense lawyer pleaded not-guilty on his behalf, and demanded his immediate release. The Qiaokou District Court sentenced him to a four-year prison term on April 15. Mr. Yang appealed the sentence.
4) Yichang Court Secretly Sentenced Five Practitioners
Mr. Hu Zongzhi, Mr. Qiu Min, Ms. Liu Danmei, Ms. Liu Yanping, Ms. Xie Houmei were tried on February 28 at the Xiling District Court in Yichang City, Hubei Province. The five practitioners were secretly sentenced in mid-April by the Xiling Court to terms between one and four years.
5) The Huanggang Court Wrongly Sentenced Ms. Wu Liya to Five Years in Prison
Ms. Wu, an employee of the Longganhu Factory in Hubei Province, was arrested by police officers in 2013 for clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was sentenced to a five-year prison term by the Huanggang City Medium Court. She was taken to the Hubei Province Woman's Prison on March 26, 2014.
Six Practitioners Facing Trial
1) Huangmei County Court
The original verdict handed down by the Huangmei County Court in Hubei Province against Ms. Dai Meixia was overturned. She is facing another trial by the same court.
Ms. Dai Meixia is a practitioner from Hubei Province. Police officers from the Huangmei County and Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, arrested her in May 2012. She was sentenced to a five-year prison term by the Huangmei County Court in March 2013. Ms. Dai hired a lawyer to appeal to the Huanggang City Medium Court and the court overturned the original verdict in August 2013. The Huangmei County Court returned the materials to the Huangmei County Procuratorate. Officials from the Procuratorate appealed in March 2014.The second trial was convened on July 9, 2014.

2) Ms. Zhu Chunmei Tried by Shiyan Court
Ms. Zhu Chunmei from Wuhan City was arrested at Shiyan in August 2013. The Shiyan Court convened a trial against Ms. Zhu on May 29, 2014.
3) Three Practitioners from Wuhan City Facing Trial
Gui Yunfei, the deputy in charge of the Qinduankou Police Station and a group of people arrested Ms. Wang Rongfang from Hanyang District in Wuhan City, Hubei Province on August 23, 2013. She was taken to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center. Her case is being handled by the Hanyang District Court.
Mr. Kang Youyuan from the Qiaokou District in Wuhan City, Hubei Province was arrested at Etou Bay in the Dongxihu District on the morning of December 3, 2013. He has been held at the Dongxihu District Detention Center. The CCP officers have falsified evidence for a trial.
Police officers arrested Ms. Liu Zhenli, in her 30s and an employee of the Dongxihu Textile Factory in Wuhan City, on March 5, 2014. She is being held at the No.1 Detention Center in Wuhan City. Her arrest warrant was issued on March 19.
4) Ms. Zhang Xiaohua Tried by Wuhan City Caidian District Court
The Wuhan City Caidian District Court tried Ms. Zhang Xiaohua from Hubei University on February 26.
The Hubei Court, as directed by the CCP, violates existing Chinese laws. It sentences practitioner without having received any evidence. Besides, court staff harasses and interferes with lawyers who are defending practitioners. This makes it easy for them to sentence practitioners to prison terms. The process shows clearly that it is the CCP that is “undermining the implementation of the law.”
