(Minghui.org) The following is a summary of arrests and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Chifeng City and surrounding areas over the first six months of 2014.
Ms. Zheng Yaqin and Ms. Liu Yingchun were arrested by police on June 8, 2014.
Five plainclothes officers from the Bairin Left Banner Domestic Security Division went into a spice store owned by Ms. Yang Jinxin at around 5 p.m. on June 5, 2014. Without showing a search warrant, they ransacked the place and confiscated two bags of printed truth clarification materials, Shen Yun DVDs and other belongings. Since Ms. Yang was not in the store at the time, officers went to her home to look for her. When they couldn’t find her, they took her husband, Mr. Ouyang Guoha, to the police station. Police threatened him, and told him that she could either turn herself in or be considered a criminal at large. Ms. Yang's husband wasn't allowed to return home until around midnight.
Ningcheng County police broke into Ms. Zhang Yun’s home on the afternoon of May 27, 2014. They confiscated Falun Gong books, truth clarification materials and a computer. Ms. Zhang was arrested and had not returned home by the time of this report.
Ms. Tao Qingmei from Aohan Banner was arrested when she was seen telling people the facts about Falun Gong on May 26, 2014. Her home was ransacked and the police confiscated several dozen Falun Gong books. Ms. Tao is being held at the Aohanqi Detention Center.
Ms. Bai Yulan and two other practitioners were arrested for distributing Falun Gong materials at Alukerqinqi in Chifeng on May 22, 2014.
Police officer Liu Caijun, Zhan Ruidong, Xing Xiaoming and two others broke into the home of Ms. Yu Shuxia on May 15, 2014. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, truth clarification materials, CDs, a radio and other items.
Ms. Sun Zhifang from Bairin Left Banner was arrested on the train, when she was traveling from Hohhot to Chifeng on May 10, 2014. She was returning home from taking care of her daughter-in-law after she gave birth. Ms. Sun is currently held at the Bairin Left Banner Detention Center.
About seven police officers from Aohan Banner Domestic Security Division, traveling in two vehicles, drove into the yard of the Beizifu Cement Factory on April 14, 2014. They arrested Mr. Si Shuquan, Mr. Liu Shuhua and Mr. Wang Dawu. Mr. Wang and a female practitioner tried to escape by jumping down from the second floor. The female practitioner was seriously injured.
Mr. Ji Xiaodong from Aohan Banner was sentenced to seven years in prison in April 2014.
Mr. Ding Shengli has been harassed by deputy director of Xitun Neighborhood Committee, Liu Wenmin, from the Hongshan District in Chifeng since April 3, 2014.
Ms. Zhao Fuxia was arrested at around 3 p.m. on February 10, 2014, when she was buying a train ticket at the Lindong Town train station. She was on her way to visit her elder sister, who is being held at the Hohhot First Women's Prison. Police took 1,500 yuan that she had on her. She was taken to the Bairin Right Banner Detention Center the next day, and was held there for 15 days.
Mr. Wang Qinglin was arrested by officers, including Liu Caijun from the domestic security division, on January 14, 2014. They ransacked his home and confiscated Falun Gong books and some truth clarification materials. He is being held in the Ongniud Banner Detention Center.
Ms. Shi Xiujie from Jianchangying Village in the Yuanbaoshan District was arrested on January 5 or 6, 2014. Her home was ransacked on the morning of January 6, 2014.
A female practitioner was beaten by police on Yunshan Road on January 3, 2014. Her face and back were injured.
