(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Liqiao, from Tianjin, was arrested on April 7, 2012, and sentenced to a seven-year prison term on September 26, 2012.
Despite persistent efforts, his wife has not been allowed to visit him prison. Ms. Huang's recent complaints filed with the authorities have made no difference, and she hasn't seen her husband in over two years.
Denied Visitation for Over Two Years
Mr. Huang was transferred in a wheelchair from Xiqing Prison to Binhai Prison (formerly Gangbei Prison) on March 15, 2014. Ms. Huang went to Binhai Prison on May 16 to visit him, but the guard refused the visit, as did the guards at Xiqing Prison. The guard told her that her visit was denied because she was a Falun Gong practitioner.
Ms. Huang filed a complaint on June 17, 2014, with the Tianjin Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Bureau of Justice, and the Bureau of Prisons. She told the Bureau of Justice staff that she had consulted a lawyer, and learned that she had a legal right to visit her husband. One of them replied, “How dare you! Your husband has been targeted, and the lawyers will be scared to death if they dare to handle this case.”
Four weeks later, Ms. Huang filed a second complaint with the Tianjin Bureau of Prisons that again reviewed the illegality of denying her to visit her husband, the role of the Tianjin Political and Legal Affairs Committee in the process, and the unsuitability of Mr. Huang's imprisonment due to his health. Ms. Huang received no response.
July 18 was a prisoner-family meeting day at Binhai Prison. Ms. Huang stood at the prison gate for approximately seven hours, hoping to see her husband, but she was once again denied entry and was unable to meet with her husband. Additionally, a guard videotaped her while she was waiting.
After multiple attempts, Ms. Huang appealed to the Petition Office of Tianjin Bureau of Prisons on July 25. The office staff advised her to file a complaint with the Tianjin Procuratorate. However, the Procuratorate Petition Office staff would not accept her complaint, and told her to go back to the prison authorities.
15 Years of Suffering
Torture re-enactment: Shocking with electric batons
Mr. Huang was an engineer at Tianjin Seamless Steel Tube Company. He was detained in forced labor camps multiple times, and tortured over the past 15 years, for refusing to give up his faith. Because of the ongoing persecution, his health is in jeopardy, and his condition became critical several times. He lost his job in 2010, and began delivering water to make a living. He sued his former employer, but the Tianjin 610 Office interfered and he lost the case.
