(Minghui.org) After Mr. Liu Renlin was illegally arrested on December 31, 2013, his whereabouts have remained a mystery.
For eight months, his family and friends have been asking about his whereabouts and situation, but to no avail.
Since the Chinese Communist Party began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Liu has been arrested at least seven times. He had been hiding from the police for years, and could not return to his home.
Several police departments have named him as a key target for years. The departments include Shenyang Domestic Security Division, National Safety Bureau and Justice Bureau. His latest arrest was the result of long-term police searching and monitoring.
Mr. Liu was arrested at a Falun Gong informational materials production site, where he lived at the time. Per eye-witness account, police raided the place and loaded four pickup trucks with confiscated materials and equipment.
Mr. Liu, 58, is a military veteran. Before becoming a practitioner, he was a notorious troublemaker who frequently got into fights with others. People tried their best to avoid him. After he began to practice Falun Gong, Liu Renlin became a different person. He became kind and reliable. He found a good job with great pay in the provincial government, and everyone was happy for him.
After the persecution began in July 1999, Mr. Liu traveled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. To keep his colleagues from being implicated, he quit his job. He was arrested in Beijing and suffered severe torture in police hands. Once he was tortured by being hung up for more than 20 days, severely damaging his health.
Liaoning Police Chief Wang Dawei Is the Main Perpetrator
Wang Dawei, director of Liaoning Province Police Department, is behind Liu Renlin’s arrest. Wang Dawei was vice mayor of Harbin City from 2001 to 2007. He became head of the Harbin Political and Legal Affairs Committee. On 2009, he became the first deputy head of Heilongjiang Province Police Department. On March 29, 2013, he succeeded Xue Hengren to become head of Liaoning Province Police Department. His active involvement in persecuting Falun Gong is the main reason for his promotions.
Around the time of his promotion to Liaoning Province police chief, a mass arrest of Falun Gong practitioners took place in Shenyang. Accusing local practitioners of “planning to do exercises outdoors,” the police raided many practitioners’ homes in all the districts and counties of Shenyang City. The campaign lasted one month.
During his 18 months on the job, police chief Wang launched a number of assaults against Falun Gong. Hundreds of practitioners were persecuted as a result.
