(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen Yinghua, in her 30s, was scheduled to be tried in Qiaodong District Court in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, on August 21, 2014. The judge is Li Yin and the prosecutor is Yang Wenjuan.
Ms. Chen was illegally arrested on March 12, 2014, and has been detained at the No. 2 Shijiazhuang Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike while in detention and was brutally hanged and force-fed. She was not allowed legal representation for her defense.
Her parents live in Alberta, Canada, and they have tried to rescue her ever since her arrest. They held a press conference in the Chinatown district in Calgary on April 5, 2014, urging the international media to closely monitor her case. Canadian Members of Parliament issued a news release calling for her release on April 20. Her mother, Ms. Huang Jinling, protested the arrest of her daughter in front of the Chinese Consulate in Calgary on August 19. She also held a press conference and condemned the Qiaodong District Court for putting her on trial.
The police in Zhejiang Province arrested Ms. Chen on August 8, 2003, for telling others about Falun Gong. She went on a hunger strike in the detention center and was on the verge of death as a result of brutal torture. Because of the efforts of people of conscience in China and abroad, she was released on October 13, 2003. She then left home to avoid harassment.
Ms. Chen was arrested again at a marketplace in Tangshan, Hebei Province, on July 20, 2013, and taken to the Nanjing Detention Center in Jiangsu Province that same day. She was released 11 days later.
