(Minghui.org) Ms. Ning Qin has been on hunger strike since July 14 to protest imprisonment for her belief in Falun Gong. She was recently transferred to the Fuzhou Detention Center in Jiangxi Province after her arrest on June 14. Her attorney has been unable to meet with her after multiple attempts due to the interference from the Jinxi Domestic Security Division.
Ms. Qin and Her Mother Arrested at Home
At 7:30 p.m. on June 14, officers from the Jinxi and Yujiang Domestic Security Divisions arrested Ms. Ning and her mother at home. Fu Shuhua, captain of Jinxi Domestic Security Division, was directly involved in the arrests. Ms. Ning's mother, who is nearly 80, was released the next day. Ms. Ning was taken to Jinxi County and detained in the Fuzhou Detention Center.
Attorney Prevented from Meeting with His Client
When Ms. Ning's attorney went to Jinxi County on July 18 and made a request to meet with his client, he discovered that Ms. Ning had been transferred to the Fuzhou Detention Center. Detention center officials refused to allow the visit and told the attorney to first get an approval from the Jinxi Domestic Security Division. Fu Shuhua didn't grant his approval and, instead, told the attorney they could discuss it when they met in Jinxi County in three days.
Fu still didn't approve the lawyer-client meeting when the attorney and Ms. Ning's family met him on the morning of July 21. The attorney pointed out that Fu was in violation of the law. Ms. Ning's family asked the Jinxi Domestic Security Division to release Ms. Ning immediately, since she had done nothing wrong.
However, Fu still refused to approve the attorney's meeting with his client, alleging that state secrets were involved. The attorney said that Fu was undermining the law and warned Fu of his liability associated with the case. After the attorney's request was declined again, he sued the Jinxi Domestic Security Division for abuse of power. He did this on July 21.
Ms. Ning's attorney and her family went to the Fuzhou Detention Center to meet with Ms. Ning. However, the attorney was still not allowed to meet with Ms. Ning after waiting for over an hour. The family, including Ms. Ning's mother, were even forbidden from entering the detention center.
Family Suffers
Ms. Ning has suffered from the on-going persecution over the last 15 years. Her husband divorced her due to regime pressure. Ms. Ning has lived with her mother since her divorce. Her mother relies on Ms. Ning daily for assistance.
