(Minghui.org) The Changchun police in Jilin Province, started to illegally arrest large numbers of Falun Gong practitioners just before July 20, 2014, the fifteenth anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong. To arrest the practitioners, police followed them, waited at their homes, or used the excuse of registering them or blood testing to deceive them.
Nong’an County police are particularly harsh in Changchun. In just one day on July 18, 2014, the Nong’an police arrested eight practitioners and ransacked their homes.
The first arrest was of practitioners Ms. Liu Lin and Ms. Tan Dafeng. At 2:30 a.m. on July 18, police went to their home and deceived them into opening the door. The police then rushed in and ransacked their home, and later ransacked Ms. Tan’s store. Both practitioners were taken to the Changchun No. 3 Detention Center. Seeing Ms. Tan’s disfigured face as a result of the police beating, a female guard at the detention center couldn’t help but ask, “How could police beat people like that?”
Practitioner Ms. Gao Zhenying and her husband were arrested when taking a walk in a local market on the morning of July 18. They were taken to the Changchun No. 3 Detention Center at 10 p.m. that evening.
Policeman Zhou Dahai, from Nong’an Domestic Security Team, arranged the arrest of practitioner Mr. Liu Yingxin. He led a few other police to wear plainclothes and wait near Mr. Liu’s home. After arresting Mr. Liu, they waited there for his wife. Mr. Liu was taken to the Nong’an Detention Center.
The police didn’t even leave 81-year-old Ms. Guo Xiufen alone. Officers from the Baota Police Station climbed over three walls to break into her room. They ransacked her room and took her to the Nong’an Domestic Security Team. They then took her to the Changchun No. 3 Detention Center at 2 a.m. on July 19. She was found to have heart disease. She was then taken to the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital for a thorough checkup. Thirty-six hours after being arrested, she was released due to poor health.
On the afternoon of July 18, practitioner Mr. Wang Chengjiang was arrested by officers from the Baota Police Station. They confiscated his mobile phone and house key. They opened his apartment and confiscated multiple Dafa amulets, two Dafa books, a picture of Falun Dafa’s Master and several Minghui Weekly magazines. Mr. Wang is now detained in the Nong’an Detention Center.
Practitioner Ms. Liu Wei’s wife Ms. Leng Xiaoli and sister Ms. Liu Bixue were also arrested on July 18. They are also being detained in the Nong’an Detention Center. Mr. Liu Wei was arrested in 2012 and sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Officers went to the home of practitioner Mr. Zhang Baohua in Longwang Township. At 5 a.m. on July 18, the police climbed the walls to get inside. They left after finding out that Mr. Zhang was not at home. Officers from Nong’an Domestic Security Team and Longwang Police Station participated in this attempted arrest.
In addition to the arrests in Nong’an, it was also reported that at least ten Falun Gong practitioners from Changchun City were arrested at their homes on July 18. An eyewitness said that about ten practitioners were taken by the police for a “health checkup” at the No. 4 Hospital Affiliated to Jilin University, also known as the Automobile Factory Employee Hospital.
