(Minghui.org) A 32-year-old man in Yueyang, Hunan Province was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment on February 20, 2014.
The local procuratorate charged him under “destroying the implement of law by utilizing a cult organization,” a common crime label for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.
Mr. Xiong Hui (熊辉) was born in 1982. He is a resident in Yingtian Town, Quyuan Administration District in Yueyang, Hunan Province.
Residents Li Kaihong (李凯宏) and Yang Juan (杨娟), influenced by the Chinese Communist Party's propaganda, reported Mr. Xiong to local authorities when he was distributing flyers about the persecution of Falun Gong on August 6, 2013.
The local police illegally arrested him and ransacked his home. The officers hinted that his family could pay for his release. Mr. Xiong's parents did not consent, nor did they have the financial capability to come up with the ransom.
The assistant procurators Li Yan (李妍) and Pan Jing (潘靖) appeared in the court trial. They were dispatched from the Quyuan Administration District procuratorate in Yueyang City.
