(Minghui.org) A local procuratorate approved the arrests of three Yunnan practitioners on September 11, 2014, for distributing DVDs with uncensored information about the persecution of Falun Gong.
The Zhenxiong County Police Department charged them for “inciting subversion of state power,” a catch-all crime label in China for prisoners of conscience.
Practitioners Mr. Wang Xianshu (汪显树), Ms. Zhao Zuli (赵祖荔), and Ms. Wang Jianying (王建英) were arrested when they were about to board a bus home on August 4. They had just visited the market in Dawan Township, Zhenxiong County, and informed people there about the persecution by distributing DVDs.
Passing out informational materials is protected by the Chinese Constitution, which grants freedom of speech, just as cultivating Falun Gong is protected by freedom of belief. But the Zhengxiong Police Department arrested the three practitioners who hadn't done anything illegal according to the Chinese law.
Mr. Wang and Ms. Zhao were detained in the Zhenxiong Detention Center after the arrest. Ms. Wang escaped the next day and had to leave home to avoid further persecution. Her local police department has posted an online announcement to hunt her down.
