(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Manqun (王满群) handed a man a pamphlet about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist regime, when he grabbed her arm and called for the police. As it turned out, that man was an undercover police officer. She was arrested and released later that day, on August 5, 2014.
Ms. Wang, 68, was again arrested by Domestic Security officers on September 16 after being reported to police while distributing fliers. She was detained for over four months at Naxi County Detention Center.
After her arrest, police began to concoct evidence in preparation for the trial. Some officers even went to a tea house and said, “Whoever testifies that Falun Gong practitioner Wang Manqun has given him or her Falun Gong fliers will be paid 20 yuan.”
Some people took the police up on their offer and provided false testimony. One man said, “That's earning money the easy way—why refuse?”
With fabricated evidence, Ms. Wang was tried on January 7, 2015. Her lawyer entered a not-guilty plea. No verdict has been issued at the time of writing.
The Communist regime regards April 25 one of its “sensitive dates,” because on that day in 1999, over 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners held a peaceful appeal outside the central government compound in Beijing.
Around these “sensitive dates,” officials are expected to intensify their suppression of practitioners.
Ms. Wang reported that since April 20, 2014, the authorities had agents following and monitoring her at all times while she's outside of her home.
On April 4, 2006, Ms. Wang was arrested by agents from the Xuyong County 610 Office. Ma Yuliang and other officers ransacked her home before taking her to Naxi County Detention Center in Luzhou City. Ms. Wang talked to the officers about Falun Gong, but they refused to listen and even threatened to cut off her pension.
She was sentenced to four years in prison by Naxi County Court in 2006.
