Changchun Resident Arrested, Home Ransacked

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Ping (张平), a resident of Changchun City, Jilin Province, was arrested December 16, 2014 and taken to the local police station.

She was held overnight in an unheated room at the local police station despite freezing temperatures, and transferred to the No. 3 Changchun Detention Center in the morning of December 17.

Her husband, upon arrival on the evening of December 16, caught eight police officers ransacking his home. The police confiscated personal belongings including two printers, two computers, a laminator, a paper cutter, a large stapler, Falun Gong books and blank DVDs. The family learned later that the policemen were from the city domestic security division and Chengxi police station.

The police also confiscated 4,000 yuan cash. Seeing their hard-earned money being taken away, the husband was angry, “You are like Mafia! You are even taking our money away!” Several policemen beat and kicked him, held him down on the sofa and handcuffed him.

Dong Zhipeng, chief of the Chengxi Police Station, claimed on camera and that he had attacked the officers with an ax and a knife. He was taken to the police station. There, he was handcuffed to the heater and sat on the floor for a day and a night without water or food. He was released in the afternoon of December 17, 2014. The 4,000 yuan was later returned to him.

Ms. Zhang is in her 50s and lives in Chengxi Township, Luyuan District of Changchun City.
