(Minghui.org) Ms. Zuo Xianfeng and her mother Ms. Lu Huiwen were arrested for trying to attend the trial of another Falun Gong practitioner on September 1, 2015 at the Fangzheng County Court. The defendant was Mr. Li Chang'an, who had been arrested in May 2015.
Officers arrested the mother and daughter for handing out extra trial access cards to passersby.
Seizure En Route to Detention Center
Both women were taken to the Fangzhen Police Department, then transferred to the Harbin Detention Center on the same day.
On the way, Ms. Lu lost consciousness and suffered a seizure. Her daughter cried and also lost consciousness. Officers drove them to a county hospital in Harbin, where a physician noted that Ms. Lu's blood pressure was high, while her daughters' was normal.
On the road again, Ms. Zuo regained consciousness and asked to use the restroom, but the officers refused to stop the car. As a result, she soiled her pants.
Force-Fed Salt Mixture
The detention center refused to accept Ms. Lu because of her high blood pressure.
Her daughter, however, was taken to a cell with over a dozen detainees and one dirty toilet, with no toilet paper or towels. The wooden plank bed was overcrowded, so Ms. Zuo had to sleep on the ground.
The detainees were forced to sit on “small stools” for almost eight hours a day.
Ms. Zuo protested her arrest and went on a hunger strike. Guards then force-fed her daily. The head of the detention center personally held Ms. Zuo's mouth open as they fed her concentrated salt water mixed with powdered milk, while six inmates held her down.
Ms. Zuo threw up the salted mixture along with blood after each ordeal. She became very weak and was released on medical parole on September 9, 2015.
Labor Camp, Prison Sentences
After the communist regime began its suppression of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Zuo and her parents were targeted for their belief.
Ms. Lu was held in a forced labor camp for four years, and detained a total of six times. Her husband was held in a labor camp once and detained three times. He is now serving a six-year prison term.
Ms. Lu's daughter was taken to a labor camp twice and detained once before. Her husband divorced her, and she was forced to separate from her young daughter.
