(Minghui.org) A Falun Gong practitioner's mother recently cited a Minghui.org article addressing the risks involved in using cell phones as a primary means of studying the Fa and keeping in touch with others.
“Mother, you shouldn't have your heart moved so easily,” exclaimed the practitioner in an impatient tone. “That article only expresses the author's understanding of the Fa; it is not the Fa!”
I feel that the daughter's attitude was inappropriate. How can she misconstrue her mother's concern for the welfare and security of others as being a manifestation of a human attachment? Does this practitioner know what “keeping one's heart unmoved” really means?
I've found that many practitioners like her pay very little attention to safety and security issues, and instead put their time and energy into superficial accomplishments.
For example, they keep a close count on the number of CDs or fliers that they distribute in any given day, but not to the impact their informational materials are having on saving sentient beings.
They don't engage their audience in an attempt to help them understand why the persecution is wrong and why it needs to be stopped.
I know an elderly practitioner who distributes stacks of Dafa-related CDs, along with software that helps people break through China's internet firewall. However, she rarely clarifies the facts to these people, nor does she mention anything about the persecution.
Instead, she chats on and on about everyday people's affairs and makes a point of getting along with everyone she meets. As such, she rarely runs into conflicts and truly believes that she's doing a good job of keeping her heart unmoved.
Think about it. This elderly practitioner doesn't clarify the facts in a comprehensive manner, nor does she put in any effort to help people quit the Chinese Communist Party. Is this in keeping with Dafa's requirements for a Fa-Rectification disciple?
Then there are other practitioners who spend a lot of time clarifying the truth, but make very little effort to improve their character. I know one such practitioner who recently infuriated a woman in our local area.
The practitioner did not fight back when the woman got angry at him. Thus, he felt that his heart was unmoved and that he had cultivated his xingxing rather well.
Yet, he did not look inward to find out why this woman had gotten angry at him. Isn't this, again, a case of misunderstanding what it means to have one's heart unmoved?
My understanding of the term “having one's heart unmoved” is to remain steadfast in Dafa while facing tribulations, and to diligently cultivate our character while living in a comfortable setting or environment.
Master Li said,
“Some of our practitioners are struggling with passing the tests of sickness karma. Don’t think that it’s necessarily something major [that causes that]. You might think that you haven’t done anything majorly wrong, and that you are very firm in your faith in the Fa. However, you shouldn’t treat the little issues you have like they are nothing. The evil will seize upon any gaps. Many practitioners have even passed away on account of little things; it really was due to something very minor. That’s because cultivation is something serious, and requires having no gaps. If for a long time you haven’t dealt with those things through cultivation, small as they may be, if you haven’t taken them seriously for a prolonged period of time, then it is a big issue. Many people have passed away on account of such things.”(“Fa Teaching at the 2015 West Coast Fa Conference”)
Some practitioners in China believe that they don't have loopholes, simply because they haven't been personally persecuted. I think this understanding is entirely wrong.
I suggest that we all remain perennially diligent in our cultivation. Only by doing this can we get rid of these hard-to-detect attachments.
We should pay strict attention to the seemingly small things, cultivate solidly, and save sentient beings with rationality!
