(Minghui.org) The Shanghai Xuhui District Court conducted the third illegal trial of Falun Gong practitioner Huang Qiaoqin on the afternoon of February 2, 2015. The defense attorney asked to respond to the prosecutor's cross-examination during the prosecutor's narration of proof. Instead of granting permission, the presiding judge ordered the court bailiffs to expel the defense attorney.
Ms. Huang requested the same defense lawyer again. The judge adjourned the trial and asked her family to hire a new lawyer.
During the first two trials, the defense attorney pointed out that the trial was unlawful. He said that the prosecutor should not be present and more jurors were needed. The judge adjourned the trials instead of addressing the issue.
During the third trial, the judge again rejected the request for more jurors. To stop the lawyer's defense, he expelled the lawyer without citing any legal basis.
Prosecutor Xu Zhenhui, from the Xuhui District Procuratorate, twice sent letters to the Beijing Bureau of Justice in April 2014, attempting to revoke the lawyer's license. This is a severe violation of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights that China co-signs.
Ms. Huang, 67, struggled through her life due to her husband's passing, poverty, and illnesses. At her most difficult time, she started practicing Falun Gong. Without spending a penny, she regained her health and found happiness.
She independently raised her three children, and worked hard to improve her living standard. Facing the Chinese Communist Party's violent persecution, she kept her steadfast belief in Falun Gong, and remains kind towards all people.
The Xuhui District Police Branch arrested her on November 25, 2013, and ransacked her home. She has been detained since then. Due to persecution in Xuhui Detention Center, she developed high blood sugar and a reduced appetite. Her body weight decreased considerably and her eyesight deteriorated.
Prosecutor Xu Zhenhui and the police framed her under false circumstances, and prosecuted under “using a cult to sabotage law enforcement,” a common crime label used by the communist regime to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.
