Retired Teacher: Recovery from Heart Disease the First Benefit When I Started to Cultivate

April 2, 2015 |   By Ru Yuan, a practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) I am a 63-year-old retired teacher and a Falun Dafa practitioner.

Back when I was a middle school student, I once failed to be recognized as an “exemplary student” at the end of a school year. I could not sleep and had a nervous breakdown. I developed a heart problem and was diagnosed with coronary disease.

I coped with this problem from the time I was a teenager. Medicine did not really help, although I tried many types. Still, I had to carry pills with me all the time. I vividly recall one occurrence that lasted two whole weeks. My pulse was less than 50 beats per minute, and I was dizzy all the time. It got worse if I closed my eyes; I almost lost consciousness many times.

The values explained in Falun Dafa really spoke to me. When I began to practice in August 1995, I made up my mind to be strict with myself and follow the Dafa principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, such as letting go of my deviant notions and giving up pursuing fame and profits. I tried my best to be a good person, always and everywhere.

I was diligent about studying the Falun Dafa books and did the exercises daily. Within a short time I felt like a new person. I no longer needed to see a doctor or take any medication.

My temperament also improved. I treated older colleagues as I would my parents, anyone about my age as a sibling, and my students as my own children. I did not fight for awards or recognition as a teacher.

I was implicated because of my belief after the persecution began in 1999. The school leadership held my position for me while I was detained, because my colleagues and students appreciated my work.
