(Minghui.org) Two women from Jimo City were tried in Pudong Detention Center on April 27. The hearing was adjourned after only ten minutes. Both were charged with "using a cult organization to sabotage law enforcement," a pretext often trotted out by the Chinese Communist Party to sentence Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. He Xiuxiang's lawyer Sun Dianjun visited her on May 13 and learned that both she and Ms. Wang Xiuying had refused to answer any questions during the interrogation following their arrest on September 12 last year.
Ji Jiangtao, deputy chief of Pudong Town Police Station, forced the two women's fingerprints onto falsified interrogation records, which were then admitted as evidence against them during the April trial.
The next day, Attorney Sun and Ms. He's family went to complain to the agencies involved in the two women's arrest and prosecution. They first visited the local Political and Legal Affairs Committee, knowing it was behind the arrests of many local Falun Gong practitioners.
Deputy director Fu Qiang refused to meet with them, directing them instead to the the local 610 Office, an extra-legal agency created for the sole purpose of crushing Falun Gong.
They ran into the newly appointed 610 Office head Wang and officer Xu Keai from the local police department. Mr. Sun pointed out that there has never been any law that criminalizes Falun Gong and that the two practitioners did nothing wrong by practicing Falun Gong.
Wang and Xu were unable to refute the lawyer's argument and would only say, “Don't talk to us about this here.”
Mr. Sun retorted, “My client is innocent. You're the ones undermining law enforcement!”
It is unclear when the next hearing will be scheduled for the two women.
Ms. Wang was sent straight to Pudong Prison without any due process following her arrest and is still being held there. Her husband and father tried many times to see her, but were turned away each time. Ms. He remains at Pudong Detention Center.
