(Minghui.org) The recent wave of suits against former Chinese Communist Party head Jiang Zemin is being led by Falun Gong practitioners from all walks of life, even officials from China's own legal system.
Ms. Sun Linghua, a former judge from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, filed a complaint against Jiang on June 8 with the Chinese Supreme People's Procuratorate. Ms. Sun was fired from her job and tortured in labor camps and prison because of her belief in Falun Gong.
Ms. Sun was appointed as an economic division chief judge and an administrative division chief judge of the Yi County Court in Jinzhou City. In 1995 and 1996, she was given an award for being a model employee in the Jinzhou City legal system.
During the 16-year-long persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Sun was incarcerated in the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province three times. In June 2003, she was sentenced to seven and a half years and sent to Dabei Prison, where she was forced to do hard labor, all while being pressured to give up her belief.
When Ms. Sun was sentenced, she was fired from her job and has been unemployed ever since.
In her complaint, Ms. Sun recalled a lady whose case she had handled, who visited her when she was being held in a detention center. Ms. Sun wrote, “This lady told the detention center police, 'There are about 100 judges and court officials in this area. Sun Linghua is probably the only one that refuses to take bribes. An honest person like that should not be jailed.'”
Many people have supported her and condemned the persecution, Ms. Sun recalled. “A detention center police officer once told me that he respected me for my moral standard. A supervisor where I worked cried when she visited me at the detention center. She promised to try her best to get me out.”
Before practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Sun had numerous health problems, including lumbar spondylosis, neurasthenia, rheumatic heart disease, mastitis, colitis, etc. That year, a doctor introduced her to Falun Gong. After a year of practice, all of these ailments were cured. She has never had to go to the hospital since 1996.
In the complaint, Ms. Sun also accused Jiang Zemin of cooking up defamatory propaganda to deceive people and stir up public hatred towards Falun Gong, as well as forcing and tempting government officials to get involved in the persecution.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
