(Minghui.org) “I was unlawfully sentenced to ten years in prison. My wife Ms. Geng Cuifang died after jumping out of a sixth-floor apartment while trying to evade arrest. My son became homeless and had no one to care for him. He had lung cancer and no money for food, let alone medical care. He eventually died as a result of the persecution.”
--An excerpt from Mr. Su Anzhou's letter of complaint against Jiang Zemin
Mr. Su Anzhou recently filed his criminal complaint with the Supreme People's Procuratorate, suing former dictator Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong, which resulted in the deaths of his wife and son. He demanded in the complaint that Jiang Zemin be brought to justice and that he be compensated for the loss of his family.
So far, more than 40,000 people in China have filed complaints against Jiang Zemin. Mr. Su is just one of the dozens of practitioners from Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, who have recently filed.
Mr. Su Anzhou was arrested at 6:00 a.m. on June 13, 2002, by Liu Jicun and Han Rong from the security department, who were hiding outside his apartment building when he left home. They pushed him into a car and drove to the security department.
Other officers meanwhile went up to his apartment to ransack it, but his wife, Ms. Geng Cuifang, refused to open the door. The police pounded on the door for a long time, and broke the screen on the door. Ms. Geng was so frightened that she jumped from the sixth floor.
She survived the fall initially. Her neighbors wanted to help her, but the police kept everyone away, took her keys, and went up to her apartment. They confiscated two of their saving books and some cash.
Ms. Geng was left on the ground, out in the sun, until she died at 4:00 p.m. The police never helped her or called for medical assistance. One neighbor said, “The police are cruel--they will get punished one day.”
Ms. Bai Jinyu, 68, is retired from the Lanzhou Petrochemical Corporation. The persecution left her disabled. She was arrested four times and sent once to a forced labor camp. She has been monitored and followed since 2007.
Mr. Zhao Xudong, Ms. Bai Jinyu's son, was tortured to death after being force-fed for 50 days in 2004 in the Lanzhou Detention Center. He died at the age of 36.
He had been arrested four times and sent to a forced labor camp once.
Ms. Li Hongping, Ms. Bai Jinyu's daughter-in-law, has been arrested six times because she practices Falun Gong. She was sent to a forced labor camp and taken to a brainwashing center.
Ms. Zhao Tong, 78, previously worked at the Gansu Provincial Student Admissions Office. Because of her belief in Falun Gong, the police harassed her frequently, both at home and at work, especially when students were enrolling. In the end, she was fired.
The harassment so frightened her husband that he wanted to divorce her. His health deteriorated and he died of lung cancer soon after Ms. Zhao was fired.
Ms. Nie Ying was harassed every few days, especially when she was pregnant. The harassment caused her extreme psychological distress, and her baby girl was born disabled.
Ms. Nie's husband was sentenced to a ten-year prison term for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Nie's son was discriminated against by his teachers and classmates at the technical school, because his mother practiced Falun Gong. He couldn't take the intense pressure and eventually left school.
Ms. Xu Jinling, in her seventies, has been arrested many times over the past 16 years.
Ms. Xu's husband, Mr. Xu Zhigang, died on July 24, 2006, as a result of the persecution.
Ms. Xu's eldest son, Mr. Xu Jianping, has been arrested three times because he practices Falun Gong.
Ms. Xu's eldest daughter, Ms. Xu Liping, was forced to leave home for three and a half years to avoid arrest. She was eventually caught and taken to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center by police, who had monitored and followed her on an evening in March 2006, after she returned home.
Ms. Xu Limin, Ms. Xu Jinling's youngest daughter, was held in the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center for 108 days.
Ms. Xi Lilin, 75, is retired from the Lanzhou City Business College. She was detained four times, held in a forced labor camp for 14 months, and served seven years in prison. Her home was ransacked three times.
Ms. Yuan Xiuying was fired from her company because of her faith in Falun Gong. Her husband was held at the Lanzhou Ping'antai Forced Labor Camp for one year in 2000.
Mr. Yan Dongxing was handcuffed and shackled for three days when he was detained in the local police department in June 2007. His wife nearly lost her life because of the persecution.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
