(Minghui.org) Ms. Yuan Xiejie filed a lawsuit against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong that cost her her job and resulted in her illegal detention and brutal torture.
Ms. Yuan mailed out her criminal complaint to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's “Procuratorate” on July 1. She received a mail receipt confirmation the next day.
A senior engineer at Dalian Shipbuilding Company in Liaoning Province, Ms. Yuan was fired from her job in November 2000 for refusing to give up her belief. She detailed in her criminal complaint how Falun Gong returned her to health, but the persecution broke up her family, cost her her job, and was responsible for her numerous arrests and torture.
Ms. Yuan Xiaojie started practicing Falun Gong in August 1996. Soon after, all her illnesses—chronic nasopharyngitis, allergic rhinitis, adnexitis, and asthma—disappeared. She also became a much kinder and more tolerant and considerate person. Life could not be happier for her and her family.
On the second day of Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong, July 21, 1999, Ms. Yuan appealed for justice to the local government in Dalian. For doing this, she was publicly chastised at her workplace.
Her husband was put under enormous pressure and harassment by his workplace simply because his wife refused to write a “guarantee” to renounce her belief. When he could not take it any more, he divorced Ms. Yuan.
Their son was was eight years old at the time. He took custody of their son and Ms. Yuan was not allowed to see her son for a long time. When she managed to see him, he said, “Mom, I forgot what you looked like!”
Her workplace tried to prevent her from going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was given more work than she could possibly handle.
In November 2000, Ms. Yuan was forced to resign. She did whatever temporary work she could find, and had no work for long stretches. Life was very hard.
Ms. Yuan was detained in Dalian Detention Center in 2001. She refused to wear a prison uniform because her detention was illegal. As punishment, sometime in April or May, police officer Lü Yimei and others shackled her to rings fixed to bed boards and kept Ms. Yuan this way for six days in a row. She could not sleep or use the toilet. Her hands and feet became badly swollen.

Police directed prison inmates to give her a brutal beating on June 1, 2002 for the same reason. They slapped her in the face, pulled her hair, and punched and kicked her violently.
Ms. Yuan was tortured with “stretching” three times while being detained in the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.
She was subjected to another cruel torture in December of 2010. The perpetrators cuffed her hands to the frames of two bunk beds, and then pulled the beds apart until her arms could be pulled no further. The handcuffs cut into her flesh and rubbed against her bones, causing excruciating pain and agony. Her hands turned purple and swelled up.
Division 3 leader Zhang Jun and five other female police cuffed one of Ms. Yuan's hands to a higher bed frame, and the other hand to a lower frame. Then the six policewomen pulled the two beds as far apart as they could.
“I was sweating all over due to the unbearable pain. The cuffs cut into my hands and I felt as if my bones were about to break. The pain was so excruciating that one would rather die,” Ms. Yuan said in her complaint.

The torture badly injured Ms. Yuan's arms and legs. For nearly a year she could not walk properly. Her hands looked black and blue and she could not carry anything heavy for a long time.
Ms. Yuan was subjected to the “stretching” torture two more times for refusing to renounce her belief, once in April or May of 2011, and again in July of the same year.
Division 3 deputy leader Zhang Huan, Zhang Lei, and Zhang Xiurong tied Ms. Yuan's legs to the lower frame of bunk bed, and then cuffed her hands and tied them to the corners of the upper frame.

“My arms were stretched to the extreme. The whole weight of my body fell on the cuffed wrists. The cuffs became tighter and tighter and my whole body was in unbearable pain. I was dripping with sweat. They stretched me this way for five or six hours. When I was finally released, I could not move my back or legs for a long time due to the pain,” Ms. Yuan said in her complaint.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
