(Minghui.org) On July 14, 2015, the Changjiang Road Police Substation in Tongling City, China, had detained three elderly female Falun Gong practitioners for over 12 hours. What “crime” did they commit? They filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The following day, police officers harassed several local practitioners for filing complaints against Jiang. “Who initiated these criminal proceedings against Jiang?” asked one officer. “Give us the names of others who have mailed similar complaints against Jiang, along with the content of the complaints.”
One practitioner who had been detained for filing a complaint against Jiang Zemin told the officers there, “Item 41 of China's constitution stipulates that no organization or individual is permitted to attack, retaliate, or intimidate a complainant. That being the case, aren't you breaking the law by harassing me and violating my constitutional rights?”
“We have no choice,” replied one officer. “The county police bureau ordered us to do so. If you don't believe us, we can show you the search warrant.”
The practitioner replied, “Okay, give me the search warrant and I'll visit the county bureau myself.” The officer did not give it to him, nor did he offer the practitioner a copy. “If you don't give me the search warrant, I won't leave,” said the practitioner. He stayed at the substation until all the police officers had left, before heading home.
One officer had asked a female practitioner to step inside a room in a police station. When the practitioner looked up, she saw a sign indicating that she was about to enter an interrogation room. “I am not a criminal; I won't go in!” she exclaimed.
The officer said, “Please understand that I have no choice but to ask you to step in.”
The practitioner asked, “Are you a Communist Party member?” “No.” When he said that he was a member of the Communist Youth League, the practitioner helped the man withdraw his membership in the organization.
Another officer asked a practitioner where he had obtained the wording of the complaint against Jiang. “The content of the complaint is no secret. If you walk down any main street in the city, you'll see them posted everywhere you look.”
“In addition, the post office, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and the Supreme People's Court are all state-controlled. Thus, by filing a complainant, am I not exercising my rights, as granted by our constitution?” The officer did not reply.
When one officer slandered Falun Gong in front of an elderly practitioner, the practitioner warned, “Young man, don't be misled by Jiang's lies...I have been practicing Falun Gong for many years now, and the founder of the practice, Master Li Hongzhi, has never asked me or any other practitioner for a penny. Look around and ask yourself: have you ever seen a master as good as Master Li?”
An officer asked a practitioner, “You've never been persecuted by the state for practicing Falun Gong, so why did you file a complaint against Jiang?” The practitioner replied, “If your teacher or relatives are being persecuted, can you say it has nothing to do with you?”
