(Minghui.org) Over 157,000 criminal complaints have been filed against Jiang Zemin as of August 20 for his role in the persecution of Falun Gong. In addition, nearly 100,000 signatures have been collected in Taiwan alone to support the momentum of this movement.
As the second largest city in Taiwan, Kaohsiung holds many events in the summer, including sand carving exhibitions and music festivals. Falun Gong practitioners use these gatherings as opportunities to inform people about the persecution taking place in China. Many people have signed a petition to show their support for ending the persecution and bringing Jiang to justice.

Cai Wan, a businessman in the frozen aquatic products industry, began to invest in China more than 30 years ago. “We made lots of money in the first 10 years. But after that the Chinese communist regime began to make trouble. Under the excuse of land reclamation, they ordered us to pay them money, threatening that otherwise, the factory would be demolished and our equipment confiscated.”
Knowing Chinese communism's history, Cai saw through these tricks and quickly sold his factory before returning to Taiwan. “But a few friends of mine were trapped. Some lost their entire fortunes and some were stranded on the street.”
Cai said he often reminds others not to be fooled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). “To make money, the CCP could do all sorts of bad things including organ harvesting from living people. We need to stand up and support the lawsuits against Jiang for two reasons: First, Jiang has harmed so many innocent people; second, only Falun Gong practitioners have the courage to say no to this totalitarian regime and they need our encouragement.”

Mr. Huang is a retired company manager who currently works as a volunteer firefighter. He and his family were at a nearby beach when they heard a performance by the Divine Land Marching Band, composed entirely of Falun Gong practitioners. “I have interacted with many Falun Gong practitioners before and they are nice people. Look at the marching band here—people at all ages are healthy and energetic. From them you can tell that Falun Gong must be good.”
Mr. Huang said he knew that the CCP had fabricated stories to defame Falun Gong in China. “But once you talk with practitioners and get to know them in person, you wouldn't believe lies like that.” He signed a petition against the CCP's live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners. “It is bad and it is horrible. Whether it is human rights, respect for life, or freedom of belief, none of these permit such atrocities,” he said.

Mr. Li, an architect who immigrated to the US many years ago, currently lives in Flushing, New York. He saw Falun Gong practitioners at a street festival when he visited Kaohsiung recently. “Once, I saw over 100 practitioners sitting in front of the Chinese Consulate in New York raising awareness of the persecution [in China]. They were there for 24 hours straight. It was very moving.”
Mr. Li said that a practitioner had given him a copy of Zhuan Falun and he also knew that practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. “I respect practitioners because they follow their principles. I know that some Chinese, even overseas Chinese, are still deceived by the CCP's hate propaganda. I really hope they can have their own thoughts instead of being fooled by the Party.”
Mr. Li said that the many disasters in China in recent years could be related to the CCP's bad deeds of harming innocent people. “On the other hand, Falun Gong and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance will bring us a good future. That is why I support Falun Gong.”
Nearly 6,000 signatures supporting the lawsuits against Jiang have been collected in Hualien County since early July. One man who already signed a petition a month ago said to a practitioner, “This is not Mainland China. Once people know the truth, they will stand up and help you.”

It was raining on August 23, but many residents nonetheless stopped to learn more about the persecution and the lawsuits against Jiang. Two high school students were saddened upon hearing about the live organ harvesting. “We do not know how this could happen in China. But we are willing to help stop the brutality,” one said.
