(Minghui.org) Several county officials joined activities at the Hualien Railway Station on July 26, 2015 to raise awareness of the 16-year-long persecution of Falun Gong in China. Wang Tingsheng, a Legal Council member, said the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are important to mankind.

“We all cherish freedom, democracy, and human rights. Falun Gong practitioners have set a good example for us, both following truth and opposing the suppression. That's very inspiring, and I think we should support each other.”
Other officials who came to the rally and candlelight vigil included Legislative Councilor Hsiao Bi-khim, former Democratic Progressive Party Hualien Chairman Guo Yingyi, Hualien County Councilor Huang Zhenfu, and Hualien City Senior Secretary Wang Senyuan.
Government officials from Hualien County, the largest county in Taiwan.
Hsiao said she was aware of the suppression in China as well as the recent detention of human rights lawyers who represented practitioners. “Taiwan's Legislative Yuan passed a law in June criminalizing the transplantation of organs from executed prisoners in China, as part of the efforts to stop the Chinese communist's violation of human rights.” She said that freedom did not come easily, and people should help those ruled by totalitarian regimes.

Linking Jiang's persecution policy to the massive tragedy in China, Guo said it is time to bring lawsuits against Jiang Zemin. “Facing such a massive suppression that harmed millions of people, we have to hold the perpetrators responsible.”
Guo Yingyi, former chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party in Hualien County, said he supports the lawsuits against Jiang Zemin.
In his speech on behalf of Hualien mayor Tian Zhixuan, Wang said that human rights are universal values, and that the live organ harvesting committed by the communist regime was outrageous. “Chinese communists must stop the brutality. The courage and spirit of Falun Gong practitioners are something we all can learn from.”

Wang, Hsiao, and other officials also signed petitions supporting the lawsuits against Jiang. About 103,000 criminal complaints had been submitted to the Supreme Court and Supreme Procuratorate in China as of July 23, 2015.
