(Minghui.org) A total of 306 Falun Gong practitioners from Qixia City, Shandong Province, have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin since this May, according to reports compiled by the Minghui website.
The practitioners charge the former Chinese dictator with initiating the brutal suppression of Falun Gong and hold him responsible for the tremendous suffering inflicted upon them by his campaign. The criminal complaints were mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate.
Many of these practitioners recounted how Falun Gong returned them to health and gave them a new outlook on life. Their dream to live a healthier and happier life, however, was shattered when Jiang Zemin launched a nationwide campaign to eradicate the practice in 1999.
Simply for refusing to give up their belief, they were arrested, detained, tortured, and had their homes ransacked and personal belongings seized. Many also saw their families implicated for their belief, while some were also forced to pay huge fines.
The Qixia practitioners who filed criminal complaints include several teachers and government employees.
Below, we profile a few of them:
Ms. Qiao Ruirong, a teacher from the Yantai Wind Power College, was arrested at work in December 2004 and taken to the Qixia Brainwashing Center.
To try force her to give up her belief, people in the detention center handcuffed her behind her back and to a window frame. They covered her eyes and kicked and punched her, severely bruising her legs.
She was later tied to a bed with her hands cuffed behind her back again and was forced to kneel down for a long time. Her knees became bruised and swollen. She was also deprived of sleep. She eventually lost consciousness.
She was taken to a forced labor camp on January 25, 2005, for a total of three years.
In the labor camp, she was put in solitary confinement for more than 10 days, and she handcuffed behind her back and fastened to a window. During that time she wasn't allowed to sleep. The handcuffs were very tight and cut into her wrists.
She was also not allowed to go to the toilet. She didn't have enough to eat and her drinking water was limited each day. She passed out as a result of the torture.
Ms. Qiao was taken a forced labor camp for another year at a later date.
Ms. Qiao Ruirong's younger sister Ms. Qiao Ruimei, a middle school teacher, was sentenced to nine years for refusing to give up her belief in Falun Gong.
Ms. Qiao Ruimie's husband Mr. Li Chonglin, also a middle school teacher, was taken to a forced labor camp for three years. However, when he completed his first year, his sentence was changed to five years in prison.
Ms. Qiao's other sister was taken to a brainwashing center during the 2005 New Year and held for 54 days for practicing Falun Gong.
Mr. Lu Shigong used to work at the Qixia Local Tax Bureau. He was arrested when he went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in July 2000.
He was pushed into a police van, and the police then started kicking and punching him.
Later Mr. Lu was taken back to his hometown by his colleagues and was held in the company for three months.
His wages were cut significantly because he refused to give up his belief, and that made his life very difficult. But he still refused to give up his belief, so his company decided cut his wages long-term beginning in December 2002.
Local police station officers went to his company to arrest him in November 2004, but he managed to escape and had to leave to avoid the police. He became homeless for eight years.
He was on the police "wanted" list after that. The local police department, 610 Office, and domestic security division were searching for him.
He was arrested again in March 2012. The police confiscated more than 13,000 yuan, a laptop, printer, and Dafa books. He was held at the local detention center for 30 days.
He was force-fed for 25 days in detention. He was only released after his family was forced to pay 3000 yuan.
Prior to the above arrests, he was arrested many times.
Mr. Lu Shigong's sister has lost contact with the family for 15 years since she went to Beijing to appeal on November 26, 2000. After the crime of harvesting Falun Gong practitioner's organs was exposed, Mr. Lu's family suspects she might have been killed for her organs.
Mr. Pan Shixi, 82, a retired deputy chief of the Qixia City Labor Bureau, was arrested and taken to the local brainwashing center in October 2004 for practicing Falun Gong.
Local officials from the Qixia 610 Office broke into his house that day and confiscated pictures of Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, and Dafa videos and books.
During his detention in the brainwashing center, he needed permission to go to the toilet. He was forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. After that, he was pressured to write guarantee statements to renounce his belief. Otherwise, he was not allowed to sleep.
He was released 45 days later--after his family paid 4000 yuan.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
