(Minghui.org) An 84-year-old man from Hexi District, Tianjin died one month after he was briefly detained for filing a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin and holding the former Chinese dictator responsible for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong.

Mr. Zhang Detang had always enjoyed good health since he began the practice of Falun Gong, but his health quickly declined following his arrest on December 4, 2015.

Two local policemen, Chen Bin and Cao, broke into his home at around 7 p.m. that night and took him to Yuexiulu Police Station for interrogation. They didn't release him until about five hours later.

The same officers summoned Mr. Zhang's wife, 80-year-old Ms. Cao Fengying, to the police station two days later. She demanded her Falun Gong books, which were confiscated during the home raid, to be returned, but police chief Zhang Yinghui refused.

In the days that followed, chief Zhang and officers Chen and Cao kept returning to the elderly couple's home to harass them, severely disrupting their lives.

Overwhelmed by the frequent police visits and threats, Mr. Zhang's health continued to deteriorate. He passed away on January 4 of this year.
